Adam Richard Meyer, age 37, of Maple Park, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, July 5, 2017, following a brief but fierce illness that tragically took his life. His spirit lives on for all others to cherish until they meet again.
He was born September 11, 1979, in Elmhurst, IL, the son of proud parents, Thomas and Deborah (Whitehead) Meyer.
Adam grew up in Lombard and attended local schools. He graduated from Willowbrook High School in 1998, (despite Adam’s best efforts to spend as little time there as possible).
Labor laws didn’t apply to Adam as he began working with his father at a young age. They worked hard, side by side, and were fiercely proud of Meyer Paving, so much so, Adam eventually tattooed it on his arm.
Adam had a well-honed sense of fun and adventure and lived life by his own set of rules. A goofball at heart, Adam was quick with a grin and a laugh. His loyalty to family and friends ran deep and strong; you could always count on Adam, rain or shine. He was a “motorhead” and a mechanic’s mechanic. He loved to work on classic cars, hotrods and anything that had four wheels and went fast. Electrical tape was a staple in every corner of his life, but his life was chronicled through his many tattoos. His four cousins were really his brothers and the ties that bound them can never be broken. History in all forms peaked interest but science fiction was his genre of choice when it came to reading. He was also a gun enthusiast. You could be sure that if it had a barrel and could be shot, Adam was a fan. His classic sense of style included 1950’s art deco, pin-up girls and bowling shirts, but classic country music spoke to him like no other, especially the “Man In Black”, Johnny Cash. No outfit was complete without his trusted Redwing boots. The family cottage in Byron was a family haven that provided years of fun times and everlasting memories.
He now leaves his father, Tom Meyer; three siblings: Thomas (Sarah) Meyer Jr., Megan (Justin) Pittard and Jill “Jillybean” (Brad) Caldwell; four additional “brothers”: Donald, Benjamin, Alex and James Meyer; eight nieces and nephews and a family of friends near and wide.
Adam now joins his mother, Deborah “Debbie Meyer” who preceded him in death.
