NAME Alan John Rusin, age 67, of Geneva, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Provena Pine View Care Center, St. Charles, where he had been a resident in recent weeks.BORN: He was born December 20, 1938, in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Henrietta (Jakubowski) Rusin.EARLY YEARS : Alan grew up in Chicago and graduated from the University of Chicago Laboratory School at the age of fifteen. A young man with a gift and a passion for learning, he continued his education at Shimer College, University of Chicago, obtained his law degree from Cornell University and a graduate degree in taxation from New York University. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar Association in 1962, at the age of twenty-four. MARRIAGE:Alan was united in marriage to Patricia Walbridge in 1971. They made their home in Niagara Falls and Ransomville, New York before settling in Geneva, Illinois in 1977. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY Alan worked for the Carborundum Corporation in Niagara Falls, NY, as Director of Taxes. He became employed by GATX Corporation, based in Chicago, in the same position from 1977 until his retirement in 1994. For several years after his retirement, he served as chairman of the Juvenile Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.MEMBERSHIPS He was a member of the Kane County, DuPage County and Illinois Bar Associations. LIFE NOTES Alan and Patricia, after fifteen years of marriage, adopted four children, and gave them a wonderful home. The children in turn made Alan and Patricia’s dream of a family a reality. Alan had a gift for working with computers and his passion increased as new technologies were offered. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed back packing in the mountains and exploring the rugged beauty of nature. Alan loved visits to the mountain, back packing and exploring. SURVIVORS He leaves now his former wife, Patricia of Geneva;Four children: Amy Rusin of Chicago andRichard RusinAndrew Rusinand Kendal Rusin, all of Geneva;Several nieces & nephews:Jennifer White of Chattanooga, TN, Jill Rusin of London, Ontario, Robert Wetherell of Simpsonville, SC, Laura Iekel of Liberty, SC, Corinne McCament of Athens, OH and Robert Thibault of South Orange, NJ; Several cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and a close family of friends. PRECEDED He joins now his parents, his brother, Michael and his uncle, Bron Rusin, who preceded him in death. MEMORIAL: A memorial has been established in his name.
