Alice Marie (Carlson) Swan, 87, of Elburn, Illinois passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 8, 2019.
She was born September 17, 1931, in Batavia, IL, to proud parents, Carl and Alma (Johnson) Carlson.
Alice grew up in Batavia with ten brothers and sisters and attended local schools. She graduated from Batavia High School with the class of 1949.
She met the love of her life on blind date hay ride, set up by friends, with Calvin “Cal” Swan. The rest was history and Alice and Cal were later married on June 16, 1951, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia, IL.
Alice worked at Schless Construction Company for many years until her retirement.
She was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married.
Alice had a passion for reading, embroidering, and shopping.
She is survived by her son Steven Swan, daughter Susan (Bill) Gates, daughter Sandra Swan, her grandchildren Angela (Brian) Zelensek, Robert (Felix) Black, Ryan (Natalie) Swan, Michael Overton, Tiffany Olson, her great grandson Blake Zelensek, and her sister Helen Owens.
She is preceded in death by her husband Calvin of 64 years, their daughter Sharon, both parents, and many brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 14, 2019, from 3-7 p.m., at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. Additional visitation will held 10-11 a.m., with a service to follow at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln, Batavia, IL 60510. Interment to follow at Blackberry Twp. Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
