Date of Death

December 1, 2021

Bill G. Jackolin, age 68, of St. Charles, IL, passed away unexpectedly, December 1, 2021. Loved and cherished by his family, Bill will forever be remembered for the life he led and the blessings he has given.

He was born September 3, 1953 in Chicago, to proud parents, Louis and Arlene (Eier) Jackolin.

Bill grew up on the west side of Chicago in Little Italy and attended local schools. Bill graduated from Lane Technical High School with the class of 1971.

He continued his education in the trades, making a name for himself in construction.

Bill attended a friends birthday party in local bar, but it was Bill who received a gift that day. Janet Walsh heard wild made-up stories about Bill but she believed none of his friends jokes, and instead went out on their “last first date” the following night. They were united in marriage on October 2, 1982, in downtown Chicago. They began their new life together in Cicero and welcomed home their son Kyle, before settling in Berwyn in 1988. Millions of memories were celebrated before migrating west to St. Charles in 2014.

Bill worked with his brother-in-law beginning in 1973 and didn’t lay down his tools again until his retirement in 2008. In the meantime, Bill’s list of worksites included what was then the Sears Tower, 123 Michigan Avenue, and 22 South Wacker (which included his wife’s name on the last beam installed). He put his blood, sweat and tears in every swing of the hammer, leaving him with a sense of pride from a job well done. Even when Bill quit for the day, he never stopped working. A never-ending list of home improvements awaited him, but he never complained because it helped care for his family.

He was a proud member of the Carpenter’s Union, Local 1, the Lily Lake Congregational Church, as well as the Lane Technical Institute Alumni Organization. He also travelled to and with other alumnus for unofficial reunions, gathering at different homes across the country. Bill was also a supporter of the St. Joseph’s Indian School, a charity that lived close to his heart.

LIFE NOTES:

His three loves included his family, the Chicago Blackhawks and getting is face in the wind as he rode his Harley Davidson, making memories with every mile. Bill’s love for hockey was born on the rinks of his youth and he continued to leave it all on the ice into his late 50’s. He was a jokester with a classic dry sense of humor who loved nothing more than to be surrounded by his family and friends. Bill was a consummate provider, making sure his family was never in want of anything. His son Kyle was the light of his life and Bill loved his wife Janet with every fiber in his being. That kind of love will echo in the hearts of his family and friends for generations, and he will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Janet, son Kyle (Taylor Oram) Jackolin; two siblings: Maddi Halpern and Robert Jackolin; sister-in-law, Monica Walsh; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and a family of friends across the country.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Arlene Jackolin; two siblings: Joyce Keith and Louis Jackolin; two brothers-in-law, Richard Halpern and Kevin Walsh and his sister-in-law, Nancy Walsh Rappaport.
