Bruce Repp

Bruce L. Repp, age 62 formerly of Elburn died in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 27, 2016 at his home in Aurora.
He was born on Tuesday, November 10, 1953 in Aurora the son of Robert and Lorena (Davison) Repp.
Growing up Bruce spent his leisure time playing baseball with the neighborhood kids in the empty lots. Those kids broke many of windows with baseballs. He achieved the Boy Scouts of America’s highest rank of Eagle Scout. Bruce was proud to hold this honor. As soon as he could start working, he did. It didn’t matter what that job was, but he especially enjoyed mowing lawns for people in his neighborhood. Bruce and his family grew up in the Community Congregational Church in Elburn where he and his siblings attended Sunday School every week. Bruce also enjoyed singing in the church choir. His love of fishing started at an early age. His brother Rob and he enjoyed fishing under the bridge in Batavia for crawfish.
Bruce attended Elburn Elementary School, Kaneland Junior and Senior High School. He briefly attended Waubonsee College.
Bruce was a man with many talents and he heard the calling to be in management. He worked at 19 different Eagle Grocery Stores as a produce manager. Until recently Bruce served as a produce manager at Walmart in Montgomery. From 1974 to about 1978 he owned and operated the “Pet Jar” pet store in Batavia. Bruce also worked at “JanTech” and “ServTech Enterprises” janitorial cleaning services. Later he was the co-owner and janitorial operations manager of Cambridge Service Systems.
He was a proud past-member of the Boy Scouts of America and the United Food and Commercial Workers.
After finding the love of fishing Bruce purchased his prized bass boat and traveled many times to Arkansas to Bull Shoals Lake where he would camp and fish all day. Bruce was a very talented handyman. While holding a full-time job Bruce was a self-taught woodworker, building cabinets for friends and family. Over the years Bruce was known as huge car guy. He owned three Corvettes that he held as a prized possession. Following the third law of the Boy Scout’s 12 laws “Helpful” was one Bruce stood by. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Even during family dinners Bruce would jump in the kitchen to help peel potatoes and cut the meat. Along with helping his family in the kitchen, Bruce was a great cook. He made the meanest prime rib and fried chicken around. Most importantly Bruce loved his family, especially his two beautiful granddaughters.
He leaves behind his very special friend, Renee McGuan; his sons, Brent Repp, Brad Repp, and Eric Repp; two granddaughters, Raven and Annabelle; four sisters, Deborah (Gary) Schmidt, Roberta (Charles) Sandberg, Gloria (Bob) Weglarz, Lorraine (David) Hall; and one brother Robert Repp.
Bruce now joins his parents Bob and Lorena Repp.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Conley Funeral Home. At Bruce’s request there will be a “Life Celebration” at 7:00pm at the funeral home with the Reverend Dr. Walter Thyng of the Community Congreational Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Bruce’s name. Checks may be made to Bruce Repp Memorial and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66 Elburn, IL 60119.
