DONALD "Bubba" KRAUSE, age 48, of Elgin, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Wednesday, January 29, 2014. He was born in Elgin, IL on September 16, 1965. He graduated from St. Charles High School. Bubba had several jobs over the years including driving a truck for Hintz Trucking for many years . He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Krause, of Elburn;His sister, Lisa (Shawn) Simmons of Elburn;Three nephews, Matt, Steve and Scott Simmons and a family of friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Freida Krause, maternal grandparents Raymond and Bernice Vogt, his father Donald "Donnie" R. Krause and his uncle, Laverne Krause. A memorial service to celebrate his life will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St. Elburn, IL. Following cremation, private family burial will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may give to the charity of your choice. NAME Donald "Donnie" R. Krause, age 74, of Elburn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 22, 2012 at Geneva Nursing and Rehab Center after a hard fought battle with cancer. BORN: He was born December 9, 1937 in Elgin, IL the son of Albert and Freida Krause. EARLY YEARS:Donald grew up in Elgin, IL where he attended local school before graduating from Elgin High School in 1957. In his teenage years he would spend his time working on cars and "tinkering" with any thing that needed fixing. MILITARY: Donald was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country as an operator of heavy equipment. MARRIAGE: In 1964 he met the love of his life, Bonnie Vogt. On April 24, 1965 they were united in marriage and would spend the next 47 years by each other’s side. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: After living in the Elgin area most of his life, Donald decided to upgrade to a bigger home that was also closer to work. Donald moved his family to their new home in Elburn. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Upon his return from the Army, Donald returned work with Geneva Construction where he worked for 42 years, 8 months, and 12 days. During his tenure with Geneva Construction he worked as an operator. During his final years before retirement, Donald served in the capacity of shop foreman. In 2000 he said goodbye to the career he loved so much and retires.MEMBERSHIPS: He was a proud member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150, for over 50 years. He was a longtime member of Moose Lodge 1368 in St. Charles and American Legion Post 312 in Maple Park. LIFE NOTES: Donald was a "people person" and regardless of how long you knew him, it was like he was a lifelong friend. Those close to him would say, "no one was a stranger to him." He was an avid collector who always went looking for his special "treasures." If it needed to be fixed, he fixed it. Donald was a simple person who enjoyed life on the go. No matter where he was he was always enjoyed the company of others. Many would consider him a natural entertainer. He enjoyed spending time at his local hangouts to catch a football or baseball game. If he wasn’t there, he was at home hosting his friends. Above all, he was a devoted family man who cherished his family more than anything else. SURVIVORS: His loving wife Bonnie of Elburn;One son Donald Krause of ElginOne daughter Lisa (Shawn) Simmons of Elburn;3 grandsons Matt, Steve, Scott Simmons;And many close friends.PRECEDED:By his parents;One Brother Laverne Krause.VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 4-8pm at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St. Elburn, IL 60119. A funeral service celebrating Donald’s life will begin at 10 am Friday May 25, 2012, with a time of visitation from 9-9:45. Pastor Lisa Kruse-Safford of Cornerstone Methodist Church will officiate.MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in Donald’s name to benefit his favorite charities: Checks may be made to the "Donald Krause Memorial" and mailed in care of the Krause Family, P.O.
