DONALD SIEBERT, of Elburn, passed away at Provena Mercy Center Hospital, Aurora, early Sunday morning, January 5, 2004 following a recent stroke.BORNHe was born August 14, 1933, in Aurora, IL, the son of Carl and Ingrid (Michelson) Siebert. CHILDHOOD / EDUCATION / MILITARYDon grew up in the Yorkville area where he graduated from high school and soon afterward was drafted into the Army where he served in Germany during the Korean War. Returning home in the late fifties, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Swift and they made their home on Shannon Street in Elburn. About the same time, Don began driving truck with his father, making daily trips to the Chicago stock yards. Soon, brothers David, Tom and "Gordy" were driving too and Siebert Brother’s Trucking was born. In later years, Don drove for Central Wisconsin Transport, Aurora, IL, Harmon Farms, Stover Brothers, Jerry Skow and others. In the early eighties Don and Sylvia went separate ways and Don continued to make his home in Elburn. He began working for Northern F.S. in downtown Elburn, where he helped operate the gas station until the early 90’s when he retired and moved to the Meadows Apartments in Elburn where he joined a wonderful family of friends who helped add some smiles to the rough miles of recent years.ts, Elburn. MEMBERSHIPHe was a "Die Hard" cub fan and maintained a virtual shrine of memorabilia in his living room for years. Don was a member of the Elburn Lion’s Club where he volunteered many hours and enjoyed the company of countless good friends and good times through the years.SURVIVORSHe is survived by two sonsScott Siebert of Plato Center, IL andSteve (Bonnie) Siebert of Sugar Grove;their mother, Sylvia (Ron) Hein of Genoa, ILfour grandchildren:Brad Siebert of Vista, CA Stacey (Robert) McGinnis of San Diego, CA,Laurie Siebert of Sugar Grove, IL and Jason Moses of Elburn.four siblingsAlice (Earl) Thompson and David (Bev) Siebert both of Yorkville, ILGordon "Gordy" (Mary) Siebert of Huntley, IL and Tom (Chris) Siebert of Boulder Hill, IL;In addition he leaves many nieces and nephews and a community of good friends among whom Rich "Bubba" White will always hold a special place. VISITATION / SERVICESVisitation will be held at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL, Wednesday, January 7, 2004 from 4-8pm. Visitation will conclude with a funeral service at 8pm. The Rev. Katherine Lawes, pastor of the Community Congregational Church, Elburn, will officiate.

Following cremation, private family graveside services will be held at the Cross Lutheran Church Cemetery, Yorkville.
