Elizabeth "Betty" J. Hartmannage 79, of Elburn, passed away suddenly following a heart complication at Delnor Hospital, Geneva, IL Wednesday, November 25, 2009. BORN: She was born December 10, 1929 the daughter of Archie and Margaret (McKinley) Schutzman. EARLY YEARS :Betty was born in Chicago, IL and attended local schools graduating from Harrison High School in 1947. MARRIAGE Betty was working at Woolworths Store in Chicago and found more than she bargained for when she met Charles M. Hartmann. They were united in marriage on May 22, 1948 at Resurrection Church in Chicago. They began their new life together in Chicago right off of Cicero Ave in an apartment once owned by Al Capone. In the mid 1950’s the now growing family moved to Bellwood, IL and then to Lombard in 1973 and Villa Park in 1976. Charlie and Betty moved to Geneva in 1986 but when Charlie passed away shortly afterwards on August 2, 1989, Betty moved to Carol Stream. Then in 1999 Betty moved to Elburn to be near her son. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY Betty worked at Turnstyle once owned by Jewel. Venture soon bought them out but Betty stayed for the next twenty-five years. MEMBERSHIPS She was a faithful member of St. Gall Catholic Church, Elburn, and former member of the Corpus Christi Church in Carol Stream. LIFE NOTES Betty was a member of the "Shop Till You Drop Club". She always had an eye for a bargain which allowed her to "spend a little" but "shop a-lot". She also enjoyed spending time with her friends exercising at the Elburn Countryside Community Center. Above all, she loved her family and was happiest when they were together. SURVIVORS She now leaves two sons:Ed (Donna) Hartmann of Pecatonica, IL and Art (Linda) Hartmann of Elburn;Five grandchildren:Bryan (Traci) Hartmann and their children Brendan, Nicholas and Zachary of Dixon, IL,Kristy (Brad) Huffman and their children, Ashlyn, Meghan and Ryan of Dixon, IL,Dennis (Jennifer) Hartmann and their children Tyler and Kyle of Cortland, IL,Jerry (Patty) Huston of South Elgin, IL Jennifer Huston and her son William of Eagle, NBOne brother-in-law, John LeVoy of Eagle River, WIOne sister-in-law, Vivian Schutzman of McHenry, ILOne nephew John LeVoy of Florida, several nieces, nephews and a family of friends. PRECEDED She now joins her husband Charles, parents, sister Margaret LeVoy, and two brothers, Carl and Arthur Schutzman, who preceded her in death. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, date, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn,. A mass to celebrate her life will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, with a time of visitation from 9:30-10:15 at St. Gall Catholic Church. Fr. Karl Ganss, pastor of the church, will officiate and interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial to benefit her favorite charities has been established in her name. Checks may be made to the "Betty Hartmann Memorial" and mailed in care of P.O. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, date, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn,. A mass to celebrate her life will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, with a time of visitation from 9:30-10:15 at St. Gall Catholic Church. Fr. Karl Ganss, pastor of the church, will officiate.

Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
