FRANK MIDDLETON

Frank Middleton, of Maple Park, passed away unexpectedly in his beloved family home on May 12, 2020 at the age of 84.
Frank was born on January 4, 1936 in Sycamore, IL, to proud parents, John and Iva Middleton.
Frank grew up on the family farm and attended a local rural school which housed eight grades in one room, just south of Burlington, IL. He graduated Sycamore High School and attended Northern Illinois University.
Frank answered the call of his country, joining the United States Army on December 7th, 1958.
Frank was united in marriage to Nancy Kyler on May 18, 1962. They welcomed daughter Bonnie, who joined her sisters Beth and Robin, giving the couple three beautiful daughters. The couple eventually took different paths, but as fate would have it, Frank would meet his beloved Pia at a local park. Sharing the bench while looking at their children play, the start of a long conversation ensued. The chance meeting led to their joining of families on October 13, 1972. That marriage led to 46 years of dedication, love and support.
Frank worked as a systems analyst for several companies, notably Anaconda Wire and Cable, Anixter Wire and Cable, Teledyne Pines and Hollymetic Corporation. Throughout his career, he also remained connected to the family businesss (farming was in his blood). He often enjoyed planning and preparing for upcoming seasons, driving to observe the fields, and buying/selling supplies and crops. Frank retired from being an analyst on May 2, 2007, but you could never separate a farmer from his fields. He continued farming until his passing, with the support of his great friend and partner Mark Schramer.
Frank was a proud member of the Kane County Farm Bureau and Data Processing Management Association.
Frank was a man with singular tastes and a work ethic forged in steel: He was strong in both word and deed. Regardless of his age or ability, Frank never had anyone do anything for him that he couldn’t do himself, much to his family’s chagrin. Frank put a premium on his freedom and embraced not only his time in the fields during his daily field checks, but his time in the air as well. His pilot’s license allowed him to take off from Sugar Grove Airport and have lunch with friends and family at Lake Delavan in Wisconsin. No trip was complete until he buzzed his parent’s home on the way to the hanger. He and Pia enjoyed travelling together in their spare time with destinations in lower 48, to Alaska, Canada and across the pond to Germany. If he wasn’t farming, flying or travelling, you could find Frank spending countless hours in Farm and Fleet while Pia did the same at TJ Maxx. His love for the family farm and it’s over three generations of history was endless, but paled in comparison to his love of family, and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by three children: Bonnie (Kevin) Mahedy, James Bellon, and Erik (Mandy) Bellon; four grandchildren: Jordan Valocchi, Kylee Mahedy, Wolfie Bellon, and Erika Bellon; one sister, Sally (Mark) Balkom; a niece Diane (Greg) Compton, one nephew, David (Michelle) Balkcom and a family of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Iva Middleton and his wife Pia Middleton.
