Gary W. Gowler, age 59, passed from this life to eternal life on April 8, 2013 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family after a short fight with cancer. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7)Gary was a longtime member of Christ Community Church where he was currently involved with the Worship Team, the Corrections Ministry, and the International Impact Ministries where he served as a missionary in the Czech Republic and Brazil.Gary graduated from Judson University and NIU. He taught at Winston Churchill Elementary School in Schaumburg for 34 years.Gary deeply cherished his Lord, his family, and his friends. He is survived by his loving wife Lorna (Phelps) Gowler;His son James (Danielle) Gowler;His daughter Anna (fiance Eric Molitor) Gowler;Grandchildren Leah, Emma and soon expecting Andrew Gowler, and Beckam Molitor;His mother Betty Gowler;Brothers Rick Gowler and Dr. David (Rita) Gowler, and sister Rev. Nancy (Greg) Johnson;Nephews Brian, Camden, Jacob, Ben and niece Aimee.He is preceded in death by his father Cedric M. Gowler and his daughter Bethany Leah Gowler.Visitation will be at Christ Community Church, 37W100 Bolcum Rd., St. Charles from 4-9pm Friday April 12, 2013. A funeral service celebrating Gary’s life will begin at Christ Community Church Saturday April 13, 2013 at 11am. Burial will follow at Memorial Washington Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery in Elgin.
