Helen E. Marquardt, age 93 of rural Elburn, died suddenly, Friday afternoon, February 20, 2004 at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva, where she was taken following an apparent heart attack at her home. BORNShe was born October 10, 1910 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Herman and Emma(Zingelmann) Nette. She came to America as a small child and grew up inArlington Heights, IL MARRIED / RESIDENTIAL HISTORYOn May 5, 1934, Helen was united in marriage to Emil G. Marquardt.and they made their home in the Elburn area for many years. In 1973, an auto accident took Emil’s life and Helen continued to make her home with her sons. EMPLOYMENT AND MEMBERSHIPFor twenty years Helen was employed at National Electronics, Geneva and was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Geneva. Her life, however, was devoted to her family. She was the consummate host when it came to hospitality and the "Queen of worry" when it came to caring. No matter the age of her children or grandchildren her heart watched over their coming and going at any hour on any day. To her very last breath she was fixing lunch for a loved one and, had it been her choice, would have had it no other way.
