HOWARD HESENFLOW, age 81, formerly of Lily Lake, IL, passed away at the Asta Care Center, Elgin, IL, Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 2004 after a long battle with declining health. BORN / CHILDHOODHe was born August 2, 1922 in Gower, MO, the son of Earl and Ada (Gentry) Hesenflow.Howard grew up to become a semi-professional basket ball player, playing all-state for Missouri and later competing for the U.S. Army basket ball team during WWII.MARRIEDIn 1946, he was united in marriage to Myrtle "Suzie" Palmer in St. Joseph, Missouri where Howard was a police officer for a number of years. In 1956 they moved north and settled in the Lily Lake / Virgil area. Howard began working for White Brothers Trucking in Wasco where he ran the test lane for many years. Following Myrtle’s death in 1993 Howard continued to make his own home until ill health required the assistance of a care center. MEMBERSHIPHoward was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #121and the Wasco American Legion Post and the St. Charles Moose Lodge; a life-time cubs fan and "Packer Backer".He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in the great out-doors but his favorite pass-time was entertaining. There was always a cook-out at Howard and Suzie’s house;a Bocce Ball game and a good laugh at one of Howard’s tales.
