Jack Hansen, age 95, of Elburn, passed away quietly in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 2, 2017.
He was born March 28, 1922, in Chicago IL, to proud parents, H. Christian John and Laura Elizabeth (Ostermann) Hansen.
Jack grew up in Chicago and attended local schools. He not only graduated from Tilden Tech High School in 1940, he was inducted into the Tilden Tech Alumni Association Hall of Fame in 2000.
He continued his education at the Illinois Technical Institute and graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering in 1944.

Jack owned his own business, H.J. Hansen Company, a management consulting company. In addition to keeping his eye on the bottom line, he also kept an eye on Joan Dalrymple as well. It wasn’t long until a friendship blossomed into something special and within a few years, their two hearts became one on November 28, 1980.
In addition to owning his own business beginning in 1971, Jack’s resume’ boasted of several noteworthy companies but the highlight came when he was listed as one of the 100 Leading Management Consulting Firms in the U.S. in 1981.
He was a member of the Elburn Planning Commission from 1995-1997. He was elected as Village Trustee in 1997, where as part of his duties, he was a member of the DuKane Valley Council. Jack also became a good will ambassador for the Elburn Chamber of Commerce, of which he was a member and where he was instrumental in bringing about Elburn’s “Day In The Park”. Jack also dedicated time to the Kane County Second Chance Program, served on the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Kaneland School District 302, and was a board member for the Elburn Community Center. Jack was always proud of his community and he even took an active hand in keeping it safe by becoming a member of the Elburn Neighborhood Watch (complete with his very own jacket!).
Jack’s personal time may have been limited but his passions ran the gambit from gardening, cooking, woodworking and anything having to do with a computer. When it came to rooting interest, Jack bucked the trend while growing up on the South Side by rooting for the Chicago Cubs (but common ground could always be found with his beloved Chicago Bears). His business brought him untold miles of international travel and opened his eyes to the world, but also his palette and a taste for French wine. No matter how far he traveled, nothing tasted sweeter than coming home.
He now leaves his loving wife, Joan Hansen: three children: Marilyn (Joseph) Roginski, Mark (Diana VanDam) Hansen and Jacqui (Paul) Lyons; six grandchildren: Michael (Jennifer) Riley, Rachel (Jim) McCormick, Matthew Roginski, Ashley (Aaron) Arroyo, Taylor Lyons and Jillian Lyons; four great-grandchildren: Vida Arroyo, Brandon Riley, Riley McCormick and Wesley Arroyo. He is also survived by Joan’s children: Donna (Tom) McKeown, Karen (Edmond) Malouff and Linda (Mark) Brundidge; her five grandchildren: Laura (Adam Radloff) Coit, Brendan Coit, Trevor (Cari Deicke) McKeown, Robyn McKeown, Jeffrey Brundidge, and Timothy Brundidge and one great-granddaughter; Charlotte Shures.
Jack now joins his parents; one sister, Dorothy Barr and one daughter Gail Riley, who preceded him in death.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Elburn Lions Park, 500 Filmore St., Elburn, on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A memorial service will follow at noon with Rev. Becky Nicol officiating. Private family cremation burial will follow at a later date.
