NAME Joseph E. "Joe" Kovalick, age 89, of Sugar Grove, passed away at his home in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 20, 2007. BORN: He was born March 19, 1918, the son of John and Anna (Schroba) Kovalick in Hazlebrook, Pennsylvania. EARLY YEARS:Joe grew up in Hazlebrook and attended Hazle Township High School. MILITARY: Joe began serving his country on April 3, 1942 in the 306th Medical Corps in the 77th Division of the Army as a technical sergeant and driver/mechanic. He was honorably discharged on December 12, 1945. MARRIAGE Joe and Ann Bobeck were united in marriage on April 26, 1947. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They began their new life together in Elizabeth, NJ where Joe worked for General Motors for a time before moving to Aurora in October of 1947. Joe began working for Ford Company until 1949 when they moved to a farm in Bristol, IL and made their home for the next twelve years tending to the land. In 1961, they moved once more to the farm on Jericho Rd. in Sugar Grove and continued to farm until the onset of lung cancer made continuing to work impossible. MEMBERSHIPS Joe was a member of St. Pat’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 1270, Sugar Grove.LIFE NOTES Joe was a hard worker all his life and was content to take each day slowly and one at a time tending to his livestock on the farm. He was also an avid sportsman who loved to take his grandchildren fishing in Wyoming as well as at the local Jericho Lake.SURVIVORS He now leaves his wife Ann;Three children:Barbara (Glenn) Young of Cuba, Missouri;Joseph (Angela) Kovalick of Sugar Grove and Ann (Scott) Ginder of Casper, WY;Four grandchildren:Anthony Young, Kaitlyn and Ben Kovalick, Patrick (Morgan) Ginder and their daughter Payton and Garth Ginder;One brother William Kovalick of Hazlebrook, PA. Many nieces and nephews and a family of friends. PRECEDED He now joins his parents,Two brothers:John Kovalick and Steven Kovalick;Two sisters:Anna Ondrey and Helen Butchko and One granddaughter Kayla Jo who preceded him in death.MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in his name. Friends may call from 6-7 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2007 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. A memorial service to honor his life will be held following visitation at 7 p.m. Rev. Steve Good, pastor of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will officiate.

Private family interment will occur at a later date.
