JOSEPH F. FABER, age 92 of Maple Park, passed away Monday afternoon, June 21, 2004 after several months of declining health. (note to media: place of death omitted by request) He was born August 29, 1911 in Virgil, IL, the son of Andrew and Mary (Berkes) Faber. Joe grew up in Virgil where he attended S.S. Peter & Paul Schools. EMPLOYMENTJoe was the oldest of nine children and barely a teenager when his mother died. As was the custom, Joe left school to help his father shoulder the responsibility of the family. In addition to helping his father, Joe also hired out to help other farmers and family friends. MARRIAGE On February 8, 1934 he was united in marriage to Anne G. Butt. They farmed on Burlington Road for a time before moving to the Faber home farm on Freeland Road where they continued farming all of their lives together. Joe was ninety when he retired from farming, but even then, his heart and mind were always "farming", to his very last hours.LIFE NOTESOne of a fading generation of farmers, Joe needed nothing more to make life worthwhile than to farm his fields and love his family. Quiet but determined, strong but kind, Joe had both strength of spirit and depth of heart. MEMBERSHIPS:Joe was a member of St. Gall Church, Elburn and a life member of the Elburn Lion’s Club as well as the Kane County Farm Bureau. SURVIVORSHe is survived by three children:Marjorie (Robert) Spellmeyer of Hampshire, ILGlenn (Jane Schwartz) Faber of Milford, OH,And Raymond (Lola Lehmann) Faber of Houston, MN. AndOne daughter-in-law, Helen Emberson Faber of Asheville, NC; Nine grandchildrenGrant (Sarah) and Neal (Grace) Spellmeyer,Keith FaberSarah Faber (Steve) Epplen;Daniel (Janine) Faber, Lance (Meta) Faber,Ellen, Andrea and Joseph Faber.Seven great grandchildren:Gavin, Brennan and Quinlyn Spellmeyer,Avery Spellmeyer,Laken Faber,Darcy Faber and Adria Epplen.One brother, Lawrence "Tuffy" (Pauline) Faber Two sisters: Terese Herrmann of Sycamore, IL and Mary Johnson of Kaneville, IL One sister-in-law, Mary Faber of Virgil, IL;as well as many nieces and nephews and a community of friends. PRECEDEDHe is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 69 years, Anne (2003), one son, Frederick (2003), two brothers, Anthony (2004) and Henry and three sisters, Margaret Faber, Rose Bertrum and Madelyn Sibley. Friends may call at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL, Friday, June 25, 2004 from 4-8pm. A liturgical wake service will be held at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue Saturday morning at church from 9:30am until time of mass

Interment will follow at South Burlington Cemetery, Burlington, Twp.
