Larry Hambrock, age 80, of St. Charles, passed quietly into Heaven, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family, Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

He was born December 21, 1941, in Aurora, IL and was lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Emil Schneider.

Larry grew up in Aurora and attended local schools. He graduated from West Aurora High School. Following graduation, Larry enlisted in the United States Army. He proved himself to be more than just a soldier, but a soldier equipped to work with special operations. He returned to civilian life following an honorable discharge.

Larry was blessed with a son, and in later years fate intervened when he gave his heart to Judy Sawyer, whom he made almost 42 years of unforgettable memories.

Larry had a hard-working soul with callouses to prove it. He spent decades as the premier “body man” at Zimmerman Ford in St. Charles.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, St. Charles and the Turners Club in Aurora.

Larry and Judy loved to travel, taking tropical cruises to any destination that was warm during the cold midwestern winter. They also loved to take their boat to any body of water they could which helped them stay young at heart.  He was a Mr. Fix-It, creating, fixing, and solving every problem that came his way, but his tools always came second when it came to his grandson. There was no one like Larry, and likely never will be, but the legacy of memories he left will be treasured for generations.

He leaves behind his beloved Judy Sawyer; his son Thad Hambrock; 3 grandsons: Tyler (Hillary) Sawyer, Max Sawyer and Conrad Sawyer; a great-grandson, Dillan Sawyer; a sister Gail Domeland; several nieces, nephews and a community full of friends.

He is reunited with his aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Emil Schneider; one brother, Karl Harring and his sister, Sharron Bantz who preceded him in death.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 3 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. Private family interment will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Memories and tributes may be left on the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com.

  1. Losing my husband in February and losing my brother now is almost too much to bear. But God has his reasons for doing what he does. My comfort is knowing neither one of you are suffering, your no longer in any pain. Your now at rest and in peace within God’s embrace, and your both shaking hands in heaven. I’m so grateful we got together for one last visit, Larry, before the angle came and took you away. Just know, you’ll always be loved, never forgotten, forever missed, and eternally in my heart. Your loving sister
