LEE A. "The General" STONE, age 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home Saturday, September 24, 2011. BORN: He was born September 30, 1948 in Eau Claire, WI, the son of Milan. and Donna Stone. EARLY YEARS:Lee grew up in Eau Claire and attended local schools. The family moved to DeKalb during his senior year where he graduated in 1966. MILITARY: Following graduation, Lee enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. As a Lance Corporal, he served his country faithfully as an airplane mechanic stationed at MCAS Cherry Point, NC until his honorable discharge in 1971. MARRIAGE: Although unlucky in love in his early years, Lee finally found the love of his life Myra Withaeger who stole his heart for good. They were married October 10, 1987 and made 24 years of memories watching their family grow.RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: Lee and Myra made their home in St. Charles for two years before living in West Chicago and Aurora before returning back to St. Charles for a time. They finally settled in Maple Park in 2003. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Lee was a multitalented man, working in many different areas over the years. He was farmer for time but also built houses. In later years he found work as a machinist at Watlow Manufacturing in Batavia. Most recently, Lee opened Grafx Solutionz, his own screen printing business making clothing, banners and more. MEMBERSHIPS: Volunteering was a big part of Lee’s life and one of the ways that he gave back to his community one hour at a time. Lee was a proud and hard working member of the DeKalb Lions Club where he was Southwestern Zone 2 Chariperson. He also was a member of the Maple Park American Legion. LIFE NOTES: Lee loved driving super lates to victory at Sycamore Speedway every Saturday night and watching NASCAR rooting his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, to victory as well. When Sunday rolled around, his passion turned to the Green Bay Packers and the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. There was nothing he loved more than playing with his kids and grandkids because he was a kid himself. Thousands of memories were made with each one and the echo of laughter will continue to be shared with all he knew and loved. SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife Myra;Ten children:Beata (Stephen) Ball, Russell Stone, Jessica Stone, Tammy Brown,John Haffey, Shawn (Jason) Thomas, Lee A. (Jennifer) Stone II,Charles (Jessica) Stone, Rebecca (Steven) Lamczyk and Valerie Stone;20 grandchildren;1 great-grandson;His father Milan O. Stone, Two siblings:Bruce Stone and Cheryl Komlane; Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. PRECEDED:He is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Morgan (Muszynski), one brother Jerry Stone and one son Milan O. Stone II in infancy.VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 12-6 p.m. at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn IL 60119. Interment will follow private family services and cremation. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name to benefit his favorite charities.
