Lucille “Lucy” T. Bradley, age 82, of Batavia, passed away peacefully at 4:09am at Pine Acres Rehab and Living Center in DeKalb, surrounded by her family.
Lucy was born into this world on Monday, August 10, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of Herald and Louise King.
She attended and proudly graduated from the Boys and Girls School in Queens, NY in 1952.
When it came to work, Lucy was committed to it. For 38 years, she would walk to her beloved job at the Lincoln Inn in Batavia come rain, snow or sunshine. People in the community loved seeing Lucy take her morning walk to work from one end of Batavia to the other in her black and white waitress uniform.
Lucy enjoyed traveling from to Brooklyn to Arizona. After meeting her husband they traveled to Illinois where she began to raise her two daughters. She loved playing Bingo and instant tickets as a past-time. Her daughters, Lorraine and Annie, would like to thank Cheryl and Jim Chidester from the bottom of their hearts for saving Lucy’s life, and in turn saving their lives. Cheryl and Jim gave Lucy the nickname “Lulu” and quickly became a favorite name for many of Lucy’s friends and family. Her daughter’s friends even enjoyed calling her “Mama Lulu.” If anyone knew Lulu, her granddaughter; Alanna, was her whole world. She spent almost every day for the last 14 years with Alanna.
She leaves behind her two daughters; Lorraine FM Chidester and Annie Marie Ruelas, three grandchildren; Dominic Ruelas, Adryan Ruelas and Alanna Ruelas, her dear friend; Fern Boehne, all the residents at Colonial House Apartments and many other family and friends.
Lucy now joins her; Son-in-law; Steve Chidester and granddaughter; Alyssa.
