Lyle Paul Brundige, age 64, of Elburn, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 3, 2019.
He was born January 9, 1954, in Oak Park, IL, to proud parents, John and Marie (Koch) Brundige.
Lyle grew up in LaGrange Park for a time before the family moved to Sugar Grove in 1968. Lyle attended local schools and graduated from Kaneland High School with the class of 1972. Before receiving his diploma, Lyle made a name for himself as a student council president and a member of the basketball team.
Following Kaneland, Lyle moved to Tennessee and attended Middle Tennessee State University, while apprenticing as a Farrier. After moving back to Sugar Grove, Lyle worked for Chicago Die Casting Mfg. In 1981, Lyle started his own business, Brundige Building Inc. based out his new home in Elburn. As a Master Carpenter, Lyle made countless dreams come true as he remodeled old homes and built new ones as well. After 32 years Lyle decided to close his business but continued to share his building expertise at Ace Hardware in Sugar Grove. In recent years, he worked seasonally for Spring Bluff Nursery in Sugar Grove.
May 10, 1988 became a very important date in Lyle’s life as that was the fateful day he met the love of his life, Jennifer Repp. After breaking a full length mirror while remodeling at Little Traveler in Geneva, Lyle was shocked that Jennifer wasn’t upset and that instead of 7 years bad luck; he had almost 30 happy years of marriage! They walked down the aisle, hand in hand and heart in heart, on May 20, 1989 in Door County, WI.
They began their new life back in Elburn where they would welcome three children into their growing family.
Lyle loved to garden but his passions didn’t end there. He played drums in various bands over three decades, one of them being alongside his son Levi. He was first in line to cheer on his children during eight years of Cross Country and Track. He also read anything and everything, as long as he could learn something in the process. Lyle always had a new project or interest in the works but it all stopped when they went camping. Lyle put on his apron and manned the fire and cook stove, putting out mouth-watering food of all kinds.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife of almost 30 years, Jennifer; three children: Levi Warren Brundige, Clayton Graham Brundige and Margaret Marie Brundige; Three siblings: John (Carlen) Brundige, Robb (Pete Babich) Brundige and Jill-Ann (Herbert) Derickson and his mother, Marie Koch Brundige.
He is preceded in death by his father, John C. Brundige DDS.
