Michael William Herren passed unexpectedly in his sleep, waking to celestial glory, July 22, 2017.
He was born to proud parents, William and Joan (Telford) Herren in Aurora, IL, on May 27, 1954.
Michael attended local schools and graduated from West Aurora High School with the class of 1972.
Following graduation, Michael began working at Filip Music. There he was surrounded by music, but through the Filip girls, a symphony in his heart bloomed the moment he met Susan “Sue” Shenshew. They were united in marriage on September 8, 1973 in Kaneville, IL.
They continued to live in Aurora, the place he would call home for nearly all his life, but he and Sue traveled to many destinations during their 43 year marriage. They were blessed with a son Shelby, who made the family complete in 1991. During those years Michael made a name for himself at Marsh Products but spent 30 years as a technician at Fermilab in Batavia. Most recently he worked for AOG Aviation Spares.
His heart beat solely for Sue, but his pulse also quickened when he indulged in his love of trains. He and Sue traveled from Canada to the Gulf and as far west as Montana photographing trains to his hearts content. Michael took the pictures, but it was Sue who kept the records!
He now leaves his wife Sue Herren; one son, Shelby Herren; a sister, Liz (Rick) Rudow and a nephew, Ryan Lathrop.
He now joins his parents, William and Joan (Telford) Herren; maternal grandparents: Andrew and Maud (Stephens) Telford; paternal grandparents: Stanley and Lillian (Blume) Herren and one uncle, William Telford.
The family will host a visitation and memorial service at the New England Congregational Church, 406 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora, IL 60506 on August 12, 2017. A memorial service will follow visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Private family burial will follow at a later date.
