Barbara “Barb” J. Eder, age 87, of Sycamore, IL, passed away peacefully, but unexpectedly at home on June 15, 2019.
She was born in Waterman, IL, on November 21, 1931, to proud parents Frances and Neva (Berg) Reynolds.
During her childhood years, Barb and her family experienced many childhood homes in different towns throughout the area. By 1945, their family finally found a place to call home in Maple Park, IL. Barb attended Maple Park High School and graduated with the class of 1949.
While attending Maple Park High School, Barb met her high school sweetheart, Anton “Bud” Eder. After a whirlwind courtship, Barb and Bud united in marriage in 1955. They began their life together in Earlville, IL, where they welcomed their three children, Gregory “Greg”, Gwen Susan, 1959-1961, and Karen. In 1968, Barb and Bud moved their family back to his family farm in Maple Park. They lived there until 1990, and then moved to Sycamore where they have since made their home.
Barb began her work life in her early years and then became full-time in 1962. Throughout the years she had a variety of jobs further highlighting her vast array of skills with bookkeeping being her favorite. In addition to her day jobs, she also spent a great deal of time supporting local event and clubs with a lot spent for the Legion Wives, among others.
Barb was a homebody at heart and loved having friends and family over. She had a natural ability for entertaining and making everyone feel at home.
She and Bud found great fun in dancing together and they were a great pair on the dance floor. They glided across many a floor and were a joy to watch.
Barb also enjoyed nature and being outdoors, whether it be relaxing or entertaining with the pool or tending the garden, yard and her flowers.
When she gave herself some time to sit down, she enjoyed watching the Cubs, the Bulls, and RFD.
Barb had a large heart and was devoted to her family and friends. If anybody needed something she was there to help as best she could with open arms. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Barb leaves behind her loving children, Greg and Karen Eder; her nine siblings: Toby (Norma) Reynolds, Armine (Dale) Bartle, Colette (Jack) Theurer, Susan (Pete) Hatley, Frank (Jackie) (Bev) Reynolds, Penne (Dick) McCabe, Jane (Larry) (Arne) Lean, Tom (Pat) Reynolds, and Francine (Dave) Weaver; as well as many nieces and nephews and a family of friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bud Eder; her daughter, Gwen Susan Eder; her parents, Francis “Toby” and Neva Reynolds; two siblings: Rosie (Don) Brengman and Clark (Doris) Reynolds.
A memorial visitation to celebrate Barb’s life and share in her memory will be held Monday, June 24, 2019 from 5-7 p.m., at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
