Bill Adamson Sr., age 75, of Elburn, formerly of Forest City, AR, passed away at his home, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family, Friday, June 3, 2016.
He was born August 9, 1940, in Forest City, AR, the son of Chester and Roxie (Shirley) Adamson.
Bill grew up in Forest City and attended local schools. He received the rest of his education at the “School of Hard Knocks”.
Although he had many jobs throughout the years, including being a maintenance man and delivered furniture for a time, but was best known as a locksmith for over 30 years, answering the prayers of both panicked persons locked out of house and home, cars, and businesses as well as those looking for better protection from the world at large.
On June 9, 1957, Bill married Barbara Louisa Weedman in Aurora, IL, settling in Elgin for a time before making their home in Hohenwald, TN. In 1972, the family bought a home in Elburn where they spent the rest of their days with a growing family. The sudden loss of Barbara and later their son Michael, brought him two crosses to bear, but Bill took them up and cared for their memory until they were able to meet again.
Bill was a lifetime and proud member of the Masonic Lodge, both in Arkansas and Elburn. He was also a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Arkansas.
Bill was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed casting line after line at his favorite fishing hole, often times alongside his daughter Jenny. His faith was deep and abiding and he was once a Deacon at the Bethel Baptist Church in Elgin. In later years he found himself a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls but he has been a long time antique car collector. His Model A and Austin 7 were a beauty to behold.
He is survived by four children: Debra (Michael) Hennig, Billy Adamson Jr., Jeff Adamson and Jenny Adamson; two grandchildren: Autumn and Caleb Bragg; one brother, James Adamson; several nieces and nephews and a family of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Roxie Adamson; two sons, Mark Adamson in infancy and Michael Adamson, his wife Barbara Adamson and four siblings.
A graveside service will be 10:00AM, Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin.
