Carl Martin Strausberger, 57, of Federal Way, Washington, passed away suddenly at his home from a heart attack on March 23, 2020.
He was born April 2, 1962 in DeKalb, IL, to Martin and Elverna (Olesen) Strausberger of Maple Park. They moved to Elburn where Carl was confirmed at the Congregational Church. He participated in Sunday School, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Carl graduated in 1980 from Kaneland High School where he participated in football, wrestling, track and baseball. He graduated from Bradley University in 1985 and moved to the Seattle area where he was employed by Boeing as a manufacturing engineer.
Carl made a new cluster of friends there and they included him as family. He stayed connected to his Kaneland friends and made many memories with both groups. For the last 12 years, Lisa Rawley and their dog Tater made his family complete.
We remember his smile, how he lit up the room with his contagious laugh, and big heart. If Carl counted you as a friend, you were a friend for life. He had many stories of his adventures in high school, college, Vegas trips, golf outings, cruises, softball, watching sports, camping, brewing beer and exploring Washington. He was “Uncle Carl” to many and loved it. He loved to visit back in Illinois with his family and local friends, especially the annual Koehling golf outing at Elburn Days.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Edith Strausberger, Henry and Celia Olesen; his godmother, Carolyn Butts, and furry friend, Molly.
He is survived by his beloved Lisa Rawley; his parents, Marty and Elverna Strausberger; his sister, Cathy (Mike) Peters; his brother, Roger (Laurie) Strausberger; his nephews, Drew and Reid Peters, and his nieces, Payton and Ella Strausberger. Also, his friends: Jeff, Scott, Bill and Bill’s sons: Thomas, Tyler (godsons) and Nick, plus several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Due to COVID 19, services will be held at a later date.
