CAROLYN LANSDALE, age 66, of Montgomery, formerly of Bellflower, CA, passed away after a forty year battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL. Carolyn succumbed to her illness with her body broken, but her spirit remained strong and now lives on in Heaven with her Heavenly Father and many other loved ones who preceded her in death, trusting that they are waiting with open arms, gives peace to those remain. BORN: She was born December 18, 1944 in Hoquim, WA, the daughter of Roy and Lois (Farrar) Childs.EARLY YEARS:Carolyn spent her "growing up" years in many places, but Bellflower, CA, is where she called home for most of them. She attended local schools and graduated from Bellflower High School. After graduation she found work at the local Sears store. MARRIAGE: Carolyn met her future husband just a few pews away at church. As soon Keith Lansdale held her hand, she found he held her heart as well. They were united in marriage on July 24, 1965 at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Bellflower. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They began their new life together in their hometown and began raising a family. Eventually they moved to Montgomery, IL in 1992 where they have since made their home. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Carolyn may not have gone to college but she graduated at the top of her class when it came to caring for her family. No one loved their family more or showed them in so many ways. Homemaker never did her justice and the perfection that came from her kitchen was above reproach, especially her peach cobbler. LIFE NOTES: Everyone who met her knew they had just met someone special. She always put others ahead of herself and always helped anyone in need. Carolyn was truly a "shooting star". SURVIVORS: She is survived by her loving husband Keith, Two children:Cheryl Lynn (Dave) Herron of Big Rock, IL and Michael Scott (Olivia) Lansdale of Sandwich, IL;Three grandchildren:Gloria Garza, Savannah Jo Lansdale and Michael Luke Lansdale;Many nieces, nephews and everyone who knew her as the one person you could count to put their needs ahead of hers.PROCEEDED:She is preceded in death by, one brother, Leron Eugene Childs and two grandchildren, Chelsea and Jacob Herron in infancy as well as his and her loving parents who instilled in them the virtues of a Christian life. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. A service to celebrate her life will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Private family interment will follow cremation at a later date. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name to benefit her favorite charities. Checks may be made to the "Carolyn Lansdale Memorial" and mailed in care of P.O.
