Charles “Mike” McCune, age 71, of Maple Park, IL, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Sunday, June 30, 2019.
He was born on April 30, 1948, in Berwyn, IL, to proud parents, Charles and Wanda (Tribble) McCune.
Mike grew up in Brookfield, IL, and attended local schools. He graduated from Lyons Township High School with the class of 1966.
Mike continued his education at the College of DuPage where he received an Associate’s Degree.
Mike began working at Bell Laboratories after graduation, where he met his wife Barbara. They were united in marriage on June 5, 1971. They began their life together in Carol Stream, and later moved to Aurora. In 1978, they settled in Lily Lake where they made 41 years of memories and raised three children.
In 2005, Mike began working for Waubonsee Community College in the computer department.
Mike enjoyed photography and looked forward to car show season each year, where he took photographs of classic cars and trucks. He often had a camera in his hand and captured many special moments at family gatherings. Mike enjoyed watching movies with his son, Jason, and hearing about the daily activities his other children and grandchildren were involved in.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara McCune; three children: Kevin (Janette) McCune and their children: Kelcey, Garrett, Jacob, Brigid, Mary Agnes and Veronica; Kerry (Tyson) Kendall and their children: Avery and Ashton; and Jason (Anna) McCune and their son, Liam; Two siblings: Mark (Sherry) McCune and Terry McCune; one nephew, Matthew McCune, and a family of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Wanda McCune.
Private family services and burial will follow cremation at a later date .
