CHARLES H. SCHMIDT, age 98, passed away in the early morning hours on Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at Woodlawn Meadows Retirement Village in Hastings, MI where he resided for two years.He was born November 20, 1907, the son of Henry J. and Mary L. (Larson) Schmidt in Cortland Township, Il. He later resided in Sycamore, IL., and worked at Anaconda Wire & Cable Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1972.He was a WWII Veteran serving the 8th Amy Air Corps, 389 Bomber Group in England and Africa 1942-1945.Charles married Dorothy Schmidt in 1956. They lived in Virgil, IL until 1998 when they moved to Oswego, Il.Charles is survived by Dorothy Keefe of Owego, IL, Eileen (Harold) Valien of Hayward, WI., Donald (Angela) Liehr of Henderson, NV, Carol (Ronald) Tobias of Nashville, MI., and Derrick (Claudette) Liehr of Oswego, Il. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, a sister, Bernice Parsons of Sycamore, and one sister-in-law, Lenna Schmidt of Surprize, AZ.He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy in 2002, one son-in-law, William A. Keefe; four brothers Clarence, Dorrel, Albert and Clifford Schmidt; and one brother-in-law, Russell Parsons.Memorial contributions may be made to the Sycamore VFW Post 5768, 121 S. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, December 3,2005 at 12:00 PM with a visitation for two h ours prior, from 10AM until the time of the service, at Conley Funeral Home 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, Il.
Interment will follow at Ohio Grove Cemetery, Cortland, Il.
