Coral Lea (née Hock) Machias died Wednesday Nov 23, 2016, at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzheimers.
Coral was born Oct. 4, 1933 in Joliet IL to Orpha (Farmer) and Joseph Hock. She graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1951. She married John Machias in 1953 and they made their home in Aurora before opting for the country life in Nottingham Woods, Elburn. For 40 years, she enjoyed the beautiful woods, the Kaneland community and her wonderful neighbors. After John’s passing, Coral went on the adventure of a lifetime moving in with Lea Ann and Tim and their four boys.
Coral was an awesome mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Family was her main priority. When she wasn’t cooking, baking or traveling to see her children, Coral’s passion was her career that spanned more than 30 years as a medical assistant to Dr. Lowry and Dr. Siddiqui’s offices in Aurora. The wonderful office staff was her second family. Her class and style showed through in her meticulous uniform as she reported for duty. The love and care for her patients was second to none.
Coral is survived by her daughter Lea Ann (Tim) Brei, four grandsons Willis, John, Emmett and Timmy, her son Jeff and her granddaughter Jessica Machias, her siblings Lois (Leonard) Perretta, Beverly Suhadolc, brother Jack Wagner and sister in-law Barbara Machias. She was a special aunt to eleven nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years John Machias, her sister Phoebe Sass, brother-in-law Kenneth Sass, sister-in-law Charlene Wagner and brother-in- law Richard Suhadolc.
The family would like to extend their warmest thanks to Kish Hospice, Visiting Angels and the Kane County Sheriff’s Department.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Coral’s name to benefit her favorite charities. Checks may be made to Coral Machias Memorial and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66 Elburn, IL 60119.
