DALE HOCHLEUTNER, age 78, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015, at Central DuPage Hospital, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.
He was born September 26, 1937, the son of Bernard and Clara (Demuth) Hochleutner, in Chicago, IL.
Dale grew up in Downers Grove and attended local schools. He graduated from Downers Grove High School with the class of 1956. He was a proud reservist for the United States Army from 1960 until he was honorably discharged in 1966.
Dale met the love of his life in the hallways of his alma mater. Mary Birbilas and he never dated in high school, the friendship that was born grew into love following graduation. They were united in marriage on January 6, 1962 in Downers Grove.
They began their new life together in their hometown for a few years while Dale built themselves a house. Mary soon made it a home but before long they found themselves longing for something else. Dale and Mary picked up and moved to the Maple Park area in 1972 and built a brand new dream home for them to fill with memories and love.
Dale began and ended his working career behind the wheel of a truck although he spent his younger years providing “slave labor” for his father, hauling concrete when he was only 12 years old. He retired briefly when Dale turned 55 but found it wasn’t entirely to his liking, so he jumped behind the wheel again, this time as a part time driver.
When Dale wasn’t driving for a living, he was enjoying Mother Nature and living his life on the water at Table Rock Lake near Branson, MO, Lake Geneva, Green Lake and several trips to Florida. He loved boats and owned one for most of his life. He was also an avid SCUBA diver. His loved to help his fellow man and was always the first to lend a hand, was generous of his time and talent, even if it was for a stranger. Dale had a great sense of humor, even when it was at his own expense and he knew how to tell a story (even if it was already told too many times!). There was room in Dale’s heart for everyone, including man’s best friend. He was a devoted and loving husband who never missed a chance to tell Mary he loved her every day. He will be missed by many and never forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary; three brothers: Joseph (Lorrain) Hochleutner, Donald (Likun) Hochleutner and James Hochleutner; many nieces and nephews and a community of friends.
He is preceded by his parents, Bernard and Clara Hochleutner.
