Dane A. Potts, age 19, of DeKalb, formerly of Maple Park, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home, on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Although Dane was born on May 20, 1990 at 2 lbs 4 oz, he grew into man whose heart and personality were twice the size of an average person. He touched the heart of everyone he met. Though Dane was born with Cerebral Palsy, Dane didn’t acknowledge it and excelled in academics. He attended Kaneland High School but graduated in 2008 from Job Corp in Indianapolis, IN. He then garnered a 3.8 GPA at Kishwaukee Community College but found plenty of spare time to rock out on his guitar. His biggest love in life was being a big brother to his three year old sister, Alex Mae, who thought she was the luckiest girl in the world to have her "Brother Dane". He also shared his love with his girlfriend Ashley whom he met at Rockford Christian Camp. He was very proud of his yearly involvement with friends and family at camp and was known all around for his big smile and bigger heart. Everyone always went to Dane when their hearts were troubled because they knew nobody cared or went the extra mile like Dane. He loved his family with all his heart, spending his memory making years with his father Eddie as well as his mother and step-father, Chis and Mike. No one will be able to match Dane’s unique gift this world and the mark that Dane made on the hearts of his family and friends will last forever. He now leaves his mother Christine Potts and Mike Polyak and their daughter Alex Mae, of Maple Park, IL, His father, Eddie Wise, of St. Charles, IL;His maternal grandfather, J.D. Potts, His maternal grandmother, Barbara (Bob) Joy of Cherry Valley, IL;Paternal grandmother Celesta Wise of Bernie, MO, Step grandparents, Don and Judy Polyak of Elburn, ILMaternal great-grandparents, Leonard and Donna Denison of St. Charles, IL Many aunts and uncles including Cyndi, nee Potts, (Julian) Perez of North Aurora, IL, several cousins and a family of friends; He now joins his maternal grandfather Walter Wise who preceded him in death.
