Daniel L. Lee, Age 67 of Lily Lake, passed away unexpectedly at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva. Although he had battled cancer for the past two months, Dan lost his life to pneumonia. In spite of aggressive treatment, he passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 1, 2007.BORN / EARLY YEARSHe was born October 30, 1939, in Beloit, WI, the son of LaVerne and Martha (Fossum) LeeDan grew up in the Beloit area and following graduation, went on to a trade school in Minneapolis, MN for a time before settling into work and family. Married twice in those early years, he was blessed with two children, Brian and Kimberly. As his work took him to the Chicago area for a time he worked in sales for a trucking company there. Later, moving west to Aurora, IL, he worked for Aurora Fast Freight for a time. Along the way, he met Mickey Kleckner and on October 15, 1977, they were united in marriage and settled in Geneva, IL. Two years later they moved to the present family home where Dan’s third blessing, Matthew, was born. When Dan took a job with Ford-Egnatz near Warrenville, he migrated from eighteen-wheel semi’s to four-wheel lawn mowers. Dan enjoyed the work, and when an opening came at Wasco Lawn and Power, (just a few miles from home), he began working there. A few years later, he had the opportunity to become a partner as well. When the company was sold, Dan went to work at Ehler’s Lawn and Garden in Elburn until 1998 when he took a job at Rental Max, St. Charles where he worked with his son, Matthew. For a number of years, Dan was a member of the Community Church, Elburn, where he sang in the choir and was active in a variety of ways. Friends then and now, remember Dan’s dry sense of humor and the fun they always enjoyed when Dan was around. Dan was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan but when it came to baseball, he was all Cubs. Like many others, he loved NASCAR racing and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt. In years past, Dan enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin with his dad and family. HO scale trains and planes were a life long fascination as well. At home, you could often find Dan engrossed in a television program on the History or Discovery channels. In 1996, he took his family on a trip to Colorado and a part of Dan never left. He loved the mountains and scenic views and looked forward to returning one day. Until then, he would muse on the memories when he settled back to enjoy his pipe and a sip of brandy.
