DONALD EDWIN ISELY,age 68 of Live Oak, Florida, formerly of Kingston, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 12, 2006 at the Lake City Florida Medical Center. BORN / EARLY YEARSDon was born on October 26, 1938 the son of Edwin and Grace (Bowen) Isely in Freeport, IL.EDUCATIONHe grew up in Freeport and attended local schools. Don graduated in 1956 from Freeport High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country until his honorable discharge in 1960. Upon returning to civilian life he attended Northern Illinois University. During his time in school he met his sweetheart of a lifetime Linda "Lynn" Snyder and after a two year courtship, married on April 14, 1962. They began their new life together in Freeport while Don worked at Wagner Printing Company. In 1966 he began working at N.I.U. and eventually became printing supervisor before his retirement in 1994. Don and Linda moved to Florida in 2000 to live in the sunshine in Live Oak. LIFE NOTES Don’s dream was to be a private pilot and live in Florida on an airstrip. Being a man of determination, he achieved his goal but it was nothing compared to the love and memories he shared with his family. Don was a devoted father to his three girls and spent many nights following them around to various sporting events as they were growing up. He also continued the tradition when his grandchildren arrived and doted upon them at every opportunity including camping trips to Oshkosh and sharing his passion for flying. In between times Don had a passion for his BMW motorcycle, liked to read, solve puzzle books and dabbled in photography as well. MEMBERSHIPSDon was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 241 in DeKalb, IL and continued his involvement in Florida with Chapter 797, the Catfish Squadron in Live Oak. Don also was a member of the Short Wing Piper Club and the Antique Aircraft Association. SURVIVORS He now leaves his loving wife Linda "Lynn" Isely of Live Oak, FL, Three daughters: Deborah Beazley of Sycamore, IL, Carin (Ronald) Herr of Deerfield, IL andLori (Robert) Strand of Sycamore, IL;Three grandchildren:Brant Strand of Sycamore, Bryce Strand of Sycamore, Kimberly Beazley of Sycamore, IL One brother, David (Angie) Isely of Colorado;Grand-Dog, PiperAnd a family of friends. PRECEDED He now joins his parents who preceded him in death. VISITATION / FUNERAL Friends may call Wednesday, December 20, 2006 from 4-7:00 p.m. with a funeral service to celebrate his life to follow at 7:30 p.m. at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. Interment will follow on Thursday at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden at 1 p.m. Freeport, IL. MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in Don’s name.
