Dorothy M. McAdamsage 88 of Maple Park, passed away peacefully at Pine Acres Care Center, DeKalb where she had recently become a resident. She was born August 21, 1916 in Kaneville, IL, the daughter of Foster Raymond and Laura (Miller) Kahl. Dorothy attended the Lone Grove Grade School and graduated from Maple Park High School. On September 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to William Edward McAdams in Plano, IL They farmed in Dekalb for DelMonte for a time until the early fifties when they moved to Maple Park where they farmed for nine years. In 1959, they bought the hardware store in Maple Park and moved to town. A woman of firm convictions and frugal habits, Dorothy’s "saving-nature" sprang from lessons learned during the Great Depression years. Proud and private in many ways, Dorothy was sincerely determined to remain independent and self sufficient as the years passed. With a little help, she achieved that goal until just weeks before her passing. SURVIVORS A devoted wife and mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, the late William E. McAdams (1991) and is survived by two sons Lloyd (Dorothy) McAdams of Alabama and Raymond (Josephine) McAdams of Maple Park; six grandchildren:Cindy (Joe) Heyob,Julie (Randy) Little, both of Maple Park, ILSteven (Amy) McAdams of Montevallo, ALTerri (Tom) bishop of Mission Hills, CAJim (Lynn ) McAdams of Aurora, ILAnd Lauri (Gary) Rogers of DeKalb, IL Six great grandchildren:Audrey HeyobDanny HeyobMackeinze LittleKatie, Maggie and Ellie McAdamsRoy BishopKyle bishopAnd Jeremy Rogers.MEMORIALSMemorials in her memory may be made to the Dorothy McAdams Memorial Fund to benefit the Grace United Methodist Church. Per Dorothy\\\\\\\’s request there were no public visitation or services.

As she requested, Dorothy was laid to rest at Gardner Cemetery, Maple Park at private family graveside services held Wednesday, October 20, 2004.
