Date of Death

September 5, 2021

Edith “Marge” Mennerick, age 91, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family at her home in St. Charles, found rest in the arms of her Savior on September 5, 2021.

She was born June 11, 1930, to proud parents, James and Alta (Carson) Bolds.

Marge grew up in St. Elmo, IL, and attended local schools before the family moved to Edinburg, TX. She graduated from Edinburg High School with the class of 1948.

Marge came back to Illinois and found work as a bookkeeper for Eggman and Howard Insurance and Real Estate. In later years she worked for Belden Wire and Cable and worked in insurance and billing for Drs. Gerald and Kenneth Liesen before her retirement in 2007.

Marge met Charles William Mennerick Sr. through mutual friends and found a foundation for love. They were united in marriage in 1953. Chuck enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country while being stationed at the Sandia Air Force Base. They welcomed home a daughter in 1955 and a son in 1957 and returned to Illinois after Chuck’s honorable discharge. It was a short visit as his employer, DuKane Corporation, sent Chuck to help with a special project at the naval station in Norfolk, VA, but they returned a year and a half later to West Dundee and later settled in St. Charles, IL. In 1976, Marge and Chuck went their separate ways, but Marge continued to live in St. Charles surrounded by close family.

Marge was a member of Baker Methodist Church and participated in Ruth Circle. Most recently, she attended the United Methodist Church of Geneva.

Marge was notorious for her pans of apple and rhubarb pie squares, as well as caramel corn, recipes that have been lovingly passed down to the next generation. Her cookie recipes were well worn, and time tested. Marge loved making them side by side with her grandchildren.  Her hands were nimble as she sewed clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren and wasn’t a stranger to the outdoors, making memories around many a campfire. Even when times were hard and there was little to share, Marge always made each holiday special and she made sure there was a treat for everyone. Marge had a way about her that put a smile on your face and joy in your heart, and she will be forever missed.

She is survived by children: Cheryl Mennerick and Charles “Chuck” (Sharon) Mennerick Jr.; four grandchildren: Kevin Mennerick, Katie (Dave) Lullie and Jeanni (Chris) Bonine, Erika Mennerick; five great-grandchildren: Cole and Kiera Mennerick, Drew and Emily Bonine and Jacob Lullie; one sister, Patricia Payne; many nieces, nephews and a family of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Alta Bolds; three siblings: James W. Bolds, Elizabeth Bail and Katherine Militello and a grandson, Charles “Skip” Mennerick III.
