Eileen Rose Varetoni, age 82, of St. Charles, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
She was born April 25, 1933, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Walter and Viola Seymour.
Eileen grew up in Gary for a time where she attended local schools. She also called Carpentersville and Wheaton home over the years.
Eileen graduated from high school in Wheaton.
Thomas Varetoni had his heart stolen at a USO dance while learning radar at the Great Lakes Naval Base, and he couldn’t have been happier. Eileen spent no time giving hers in return and soon a relationship bloomed into marriage as they were wed on September 11, 1954 in Dundee, IL.
They began their new life together back in Clifton, NJ living with his parents until Tom returned from the service. When he returned, Eileen and Tom continued to live in Clifton while Tom finished his schooling. The next many years were full of cross country moves between New Jersey and Illinois with memories made with each move and mile. They began a family while living in Carpentersville, IL. The family grew to include four children: Robert, Michael, Carole and Kathy. Eventually they settled in St. Charles, IL and watched their children grow and have children of their own.
Eileen’s full time job was raising her family and she was great at her job. She made each house a home by filling it with love and memories to last a lifetime. Once the children were grown, Eileen got an opportunity to indulge her passion for gardening, but also picked up a part time job at a local florist, making beautiful one-of- a- kind bouquets for everyone to enjoy.
He and Eileen kicked up their heels at many ballrooms over the years including the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. In younger years, Eileen loved to go horseback riding but later it was travel that piqued her interest. She and Tom went to Hawaii, Alaska, Italy and throughout the lower 48.
She is survived by her four children: Robert (Beth) Varetoni, Michael Varetoni, Carole Varetoni, and Kathy (Chris) Turk; Four grandchildren: Collin Varetoni, Lindsey Varetoni, Sedona Turk and Selah Turk; One sister Mary Jane Soehnlin, many nieces, nephews and a community of friends.
