ELAINE VERNER, age 83, of St. Charles, IL, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love and prayers of her family, Tuesday, May 3, 2011.BORN: She was born on December 4, 1927 in Geneva, IL to Elmer and Edith (Anderson) Benson. EARLY YEARS:Elaine grew up in Batavia, IL, and attended local schools. EDUCATION: Elaine graduated from Batavia high school, where she was a member of the national honor society, in 1944. Following graduation, she worked as an accounting clerk at the Batavia Body Company.MARRIAGE: On September 13, 1958 she was married to the love of her life Donald R. Verner.RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: Don and Elaine ran a dairy farm on Bolcum Road in what was then rural St. Charles. Together they raised five boys. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Elaine kept the farm books and after her sons were raised, she went to work as an accounting clerk at Kane County assessor’s office. She served as a vice president of Kane County Mutual Insurance Company. She and her husband volunteered their time at the Northern Illinois food bank. MEMBERSHIPS: Elaine was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church of Lily Lake for over 50 years, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, financial secretary, Rebecca circle, and vacation bible school.LIFE NOTES: For fun, Elaine enjoyed traveling not only across the United States and Canada but also abroad to Europe and Singapore. She also liked playing board games, working on jigsaw puzzles, and just spending time with her family.SURVIVORS: She is survived by her husband, Donald, Five sons: Tim (Mary) Verner of Parkville, MO, Paul (Sherri) Verner of Frisco, TX, John (Candice) of St. Charles, IL, David of Aurora, IL, Dan (Diane) of Island Lake, IL; 15 grandchildren;One great-grandchild; One brother, James (Ruth) Benson of Aurora, IL; One sister, Carol (Bob) Nelson of Maple Park, IL;Many nieces and nephews, one exchange student, Frank (Birte) Scheler of Germany and a family of friends;The family also wishes to express their appreciation to the caregiver for his loving care in her final year. PRECEDED:She was preceded in death by her parents. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be Friday May 6th, 2011 from 4pm to 7pm at Grace Lutheran Church, Lily Lake, IL. The service to celebrate her life will follow visitation and begin at 7:30pm. Burial will be at 10am on Saturday May 7th, 2011 at Whitney CemeteryMEMORIAL A memorial has been established in her name to benefit the American Lung Association, Northern Illinois Food Bank and Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday May 6th, 2011 from 4pm to 7pm at Grace Lutheran Church, Lily Lake, IL. The service to celebrate her life will follow visitation and begin at 7:30pm.

Burial will be at 10am on Saturday May 7th, 2011 at Whitney Cemetery
