Esther Dorothy Schuring Lamz, age 84 of Elburn, formerly of Elgin, passed away peacefully at her home, Friday afternoon, January 6, 2006.She was born to Christina and Albert Schuring in Dundee, Illinois on May 13, 1921. Esther was raised in the Dundee area, mostly on the family farm on Route 72 just east of Route 25, where she grew up with siblings, George, Elsie, Elmer, Eleanor, Albert, Frederick, Gladys, and Bernice. EMPLOYMENT: Esther worked at the Watch Factory for several years as well as General Time in Rolling Meadows for a time. MARRIAGEOn September 6, 1947 she was united in marriage to Oscar Lamz and they soon bought a home where they would live all of their married lives on Raymond street in Elgin. Esther was also a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Elgin. Following Oscar’s death in 1989, Esther came to live in Elburn with her daughter, Carol and son-in-law, LeRoy Herra. She made many Elburn area friends over the next fifteen years and stayed in touch as well with her Elgin friends. SURVIVORSShe is survived by her children, Carol Jean (LeRoy) Herra of Elburn, Charles (Sharon) Lamz of Elgin, stepchildren, Marianne (David) Braasch of Melrose Park, and Richard (Susan) Lamz of Lisle, a sister, Bernice Moeller of Elgin and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.PRECEDEDShe was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Elsie Eichhorst, George Schuring, Eleanor Schuring, Gladys Woods and Albert (Bud) Schuring, and Elmer and Frederick in infancy.MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to benefit Provena St. Joseph Hospice and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Elgin. Memorials checks may be made to either the church or the hospice and mailed in Esther’s name, in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, 2006 from 1 pm to 6 pm at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. Services will follow Monday at 11am at the funeral home. The Rev. Thomas Niermann, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Elgin, will officiate.

. Interment will conclude Monday afternoon at 2:45 pm at Lakewood Cemetery, Elgin.
