Eugene Arthur Waterstreet, age 90, of Burlington township, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, July 3, 2015. He was born January 22, 1925 in Pecatonica, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Vivian (Van Horn) Waterstreet.

Following high school graduation, Gene enlisted with the Navy to serve as a radio operator during World War ll. On completion of service, he enrolled in Bradley University and completed his electrical engineering degree at the University of Missouri. His working career included electrical engineering, real estate development and sales, and industrial equipment resale.

Gene was united in marriage with Margaret (“Maggie” Young) Waterstreet on May 11, 1957 in Oswego, Illinois. They first made their home in Elburn, Illinois and later moved to Burlington township in Kane County, Illinois.

A talented musician, Gene played Big Band music as saxophonist for several bands in high school, college, and during his Navy service. He continued his passion for playing the saxophone well into his final years, bringing joy to those who heard him play.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie, his brother Wayne Waterstreet, and his sister Eleanor (Waterstreet) Gustafson. He is survived by his three children: Sam (Virginia) Waterstreet of Big Rock, Illinois; Jeff (Heather) Waterstreet of Tampa, Florida; and Nan Waterstreet of Marengo, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

As he had wished, there will be no visitation or funeral ceremony.
