FAYOLA JEAN MUSSER, age 85, of Sugar Grove, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by the love and prayers of her family on Tuesday evening, January 25, 2011. BORN: She was born October 4, 1925 in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Fay and Lula (Wacker) Hayes.EARLY YEARS :Shortly after she was born, Fay’s family moved to Sugar Grove in March of 1927 where she was raised on the Nelson Myers Farm on Galena Blvd. She attended a one room school house where one teacher taught grades 1-8. Fay graduated from Sugar Grove High School in 1942 with the largest class at that time, which featured nine boys and nine girls. In June of that year Fay went on to attend the Metropolitan Business College.MARRIAGE In 1946 Delmer & Ruth Kriegbaum set Fay up on a blind date up with a cute, wavy blonde haired basketball player by the name of Dean Musser. Little did she know that Dean would be her soul mate and they were married on August 10, 1947 at the Sugar Grove Methodist Church, a marriage that would last for 51 years. They made their home in Kaneville until 1956 when they built their dream home in Sugar Grove which they lived in together until Dean’s death in 1998. Fay has been able to remain in the family home with the loving help of her son and daughter-in-law Doug and Carol.OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY In 1942 Fay took her first job at Barber Greene where she worked in the Steno Department until 1945 when she was asked to be an Expediter in repair parts. She left Barber Greene in 1955.She worked at the Library at Waubonsee Community College for 18 years until her retirement in 1994.MEMBERSHIPS Fay was a lifetime member of the Sugar Grove Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir for 50 years. She was also member of WSCS for a time as well as the Young Adults Club up until age of 40. Fay then she started the "Card Club" with the seven other couples but no hand could beat her beloved Chicago Cubs who "trumped" all. SURVIVORS She is survived by two sons:David Dean (Sheryl) Musser of Oswego, IL and their family:Doug Wayne (Carol) Musser of Sugar Grove, IL, and their daughterFour grandchildren:Brianna Jean Musser of Yorkville, IL,Matthew Dean (Marietta Culbertson) and their children, Nicholas Jager and Coltin Dean Musser, all of Sheridan, IL;Markus Wayne Musser of Sheridan, IL and Nicole Marie Musser Oswego, IL;A very special Sister-in-law, Shirley Moore of Naperville, IL;Brother and sister-in-law Guy "Ozzy" and Becky Musser of State College, PA,One aunt Maxine Daly of Philo, ILOne special cousin June Watson of Champaign Urbana, IL,Her special caregiver and friend, Elizabeth Kakoczki from Aurora and Many nieces, nephews and a community of friends. PRECEDED She is preceded in death by her husband Dean 1998, her parents, one brother Carl Wayne Hayes, one nephew Ronald Moore and many aunts and uncles. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. with a funeral service to celebrate her life to follow at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28th, 2011. Rev. Steve Good, pastor of the church, will officiate and interment will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in her name to benefit the building fund at the Sugar Grove Methodist Church. Checks may be made to the "Fay Musser Memorial" and mailed in care of P.O.
