NAME Gary Stimmell, age 49, of Maple Park, passed away at Delnor Hospital, Geneva, IL, on Sunday, January 10, 2010. BORN: He was born May 10, 1960 the son John and Patricia (Potter) Stimmell in Spokane, WA.EARLY YEARS:Gary moved often during his childhood following and attended schools as he went. The family settled in Lombard in the early 1970’s where Gary graduated from Glenbard East High School.OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:Following high school, Gary had a passion for cooking but found a steady job as a mail carrier for the USPS. He also was an EMT and a volunteer for the Lombard Fire Department. MARRIAGE: Margaret Mundinger, a substitute at the time for the Glen Ellyn Post Office, caught Gary’s eyes immediately and then captured his heart. Gary and Margaret were inseparable from then on, making over twenty years of memories before getting married in 2003. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: In the early years they lived on Charlotte St. in Lombard before settling in Maple Park in 1991.LIFE NOTES: Gary’s love for cooking in his younger years only grew to the point where he felt most at home in the kitchen. Though he was encouraged to go to culinary school, he preferred to experiment and perfect meals at home. Gary had many dreams including buying a cabin on a lake with Margaret and go fishing together. One of the dreams he did realize was parked in the garage, a dark blue Ford F-250. Gary loved his lawn and working around the house but he was happiest when he was at home with Margaret. SURVIVORS: He now leaves his loving wife and soul mate, Margaret, His parents, John Edward "Ed" and Patricia Stimmell, Two sisters:Geri (Dominic) Luciano and Joanna (Dan) Kulevich;Several aunts, uncles, cousins and a lifetime of close friends. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2010 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL, 60119. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 7 p.m. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name to benefit his favorite charities.
