Gerald “Jerry” Tutt, age 82 of Kirkland but formally of Sugar Grove passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Pine Acres Nursing Home in DeKalb, IL.
He was born on Sunday, July 1, 1934 in Waterman, IL the son of Fred and Myrtle (Olson) Tutt.
Jerry attended Kirkland High School where he eventually met the love of his life Shirley Parish.
A love strong and true, grew quickly they were married on August 10, 1951 at the Forth Street Methodist Church in Aurora. They began their new lives together in Aurora until 1961 when they moved to Sugar Grove, where they purchased a farm and raised their five children. After making 25 years of memories, they sold the farm and retired in Kirkland, IL.
Jerry worked for 37 years at Equipto in Aurora as a paint mixer.
He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Farm Bureau.
Jerry’s passion was woodworking where he built quilt racks, doll cradles for granddaughters and many other family treasures. He always enjoyed cutting down trees for firewood, every time he saw a tree down he wanted to stop and pick it up. While he would have his son and daughter-in-law do the work. Along with reading westerns Jerry absolutely loved spending time with his love Shirley on the gator taking rides around their property. Over the years the family enjoyed camping throughout the lower 48 states but when Jerry and Shirley hit the road together, their destinations included not only Nashville, TN and Branson, MO, but Hawaii and Alaska as well. The time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was priceless and the memories that were made will live on their hearts forever.
Jerry leaves behind his four children Vicki McCann, Dawn Robinson, Terry (Cherri) Tutt, and Bradley (Charlene) Tutt, one sister Joann Rieckert, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He now joins his wife, parents, and one daughter Debbie Holly.
A visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2016 at Conley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Kirkland United Methodist Church in Kirkland. Burial will follow at the Maple Cemetery in Kirkland.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Jerry’s name. Checks may be made to the “Gerald Tutt Memorial” and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, 60119. Tributes may also be forwarded to the same address or on the web at www.conleycare.com.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Kirkland United Methodist Church in Kirkland.
A visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2016 at Conley Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at the Maple Cemetery in Kirkland.
