Geri (Gordon) Crete "Gee Mom"of Leland , IL, passed away Wednesday morning, October 3, 2007 at the Rehabilitation Care Center, Sandwich, IL where she had recently become a patient under care with the DeKalb Hospice. BORN / EARLY YEARS She was born August 13, 1950 in Geneva, IL, the daughter of Robert Harold and Helen Jean (Gilkey) Gordon. Geri grew up in Elburn and went on to graduate from West Aurora High School with the class of 1968. After high school, she lived in Milwaukee for a time and worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company.In 1977 she became the mother of twin boys, Jeremy and Joshua. They made their home in Hinckley for a time before moving to Aurora where Sarah was born in 1979. The kids’ growing up years were tough in many ways and Geri worked hard to balance the challenges of making a living and having a life with her family. For all of the "life lemons" that were thrown into her life, Geri always found enough sugar to make lemonade and wear a smile. In 1986, another of those "lemons" came along when Geri was diagnosed with Diabetes. A decade later, her liver began to fail and her day to day life became increasingly complicated and difficult. Through it all, Geri the "lemonade maker" not only kept her faith and sense of humor, she kept her focus on life. Her enduring love and prayers for her three children plus the bright smiles and adoration of her grandchildren kept "Gee Mom" going from day to day. Knowing that her time with them would be cut short she once remarked: "If I could rock my grandchildren to the end of Eternity, that would be heaven for me. So may it be that in her heavenly arms, "Gee Mom" holds them all, watching over their days and nights until all are "home safe" and the tears of many years turned into diamonds. FAMILY MEMBERSShe is survived by three children:Her twins, Josh Crete of Oswego and Jeremy (Michelle) Crete of Montgomery;One daughter, Sarah (Dennie J.) Craddock of Somonauk, IL;Her grandchildren Alexis "Lexi",Makayla "Bear",Kiley,Jeremy Jr. and Jayden,Liam, Izabella "Bella" andKieran;Her step-mother Joanne Gordon of Elburn; Her mother Jean Herrington of Aurora, IL;Eight Siblings: Gail Farren of Montgomery, IL Jeff (Gloria) Gordon of Elburn, ILLori Sticka of Dekalb, IL Kristi Edwards of Plano, ILTrina (Clark) Kinner of Dekalb, ILRaymond Lawson of Aurora, ILJudy Herrington of Utica, IL and Bill Herrington of Somonauk, IL;Many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
