NAME Gladys V. "Ginny" Newberry, age 66, of Elburn, IL, passed away at Delnor Hospital, Geneva in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 4, 2009. BORN: She was born Platea, PA on May 26, 1942. EARLY YEARS :As a result of being abandoned by her mother, who shall go nameless, her father Douglass raised Ginny and her two brothers and two sisters with the help of the Odd fellow’s Orphanage in Meadville, PA. MARRIAGE Jim Newberry’s life changed when he met Ginny. They were united in marriage on October 12, 1968 in Springfield, IL. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They began their new life together in Tulsa, OK where Ginny studied at St. Francis Hospital while raising five children and eventually becoming a Certified Nurses Assistant. She continued to work at St. Francis until they moved to Elburn, IL, in 1984 where Ginny worked at Marionjoy, a rehabilitation hospital in Wheaton. Later she would work as a private nurse, caring for terminally ill patients in the Fox Valley area. MEMBERSHIPS Ginny was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Geneva. LIFE NOTES Ginny loved people. It was the main reason she wanted to become a nurse and give love and care for those without. She also had a special love for Mother Nature and all of her inhabitants, refusing to let even the smallest animal or bug meet an unkind fate. Like her father before her, she never had an unkind word for anyone and always followed the "Golden Rule", treating others as she would want herself to be treated. SURVIVORS She now leaves her loving husband Jim Her daughters:Geraldine "Dino" (Steve) Kosusnik of Winfield, IL,Sherry Cox of DeKalb, IL, and Angela (Ron) Johnson of Aurora, IL;Two sons:Charles (Peggy) Smith of Geneva and James (Sandy) Smith of Tulsa, OK;12 Grandchildren;Two twin brothers, David Thrall of Geneva, IL and Dennis Thrall of Ashland, OH, And a family of friends. PRECEDED She now joins her loving father, Two sisters:JoAnn and Sandra and Three grandchildren who passed away in infancy or at a very young age.VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be held from 2-6p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL, 60119. A funeral to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 9 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1745 Kaneville Rd., Geneva, IL. Rev. Steve Okpisz, pastor of the church, will officiate. Private family interment will follow cremation at Blackberry Township Cemetery. At a later date, she will be buried between her two grandchildren, Cherie and Douglass, who died in infancy.MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in her name.
