James Lloyd McConnaughay, age 87, of Edmonton, Alberta, formerly of St. Charles and Elburn, IL, passed away peacefully at the Grey Nun Hospital, Edmonton, Thursday afternoon, June 16, 2005. He came to the end of his earthly journey and taking the hand of the Savior he loved and served, Lloyd went on to begin life anew in the "room" that had been prepared for him.He was born May 14, 1918, at Bluford, IL, the son of John and Florence (Helberg) McConnaughay. At the age of 15, his family moved to St. Charles, IL, where he graduated from St. Charles High School with the class of 1936. Later graduating from Wheaton College, Lloyd was ordained into the ministry in 1950. He served his local church, Global Missions in St. Charles for many years, filling every role from custodian to pastor and teacher.He worked for a time at Howell Manufacturing until 1941, when he enlisted in the United States Army. He became a pilot and served in the Training Command throughout WW II. Returning home inn October of 1945, he was united in marriage to Gladys L. Johnsen on March 29, 1946. They made their home in the St. Charles / Geneva area for many years until 1984, when they moved to Elburn.Lloyd worked as store manager for Averille Electric, Geneva for over forty years and attained his commercial pilot’s license as well.Following Gladys’ death in 1990, Lloyd continued to make his home in Elburn until 1994, when he was united in marriage to Anne Kindrachuk on August 27th. They settled in Edmonton, where they have since made their home. Lloyd was devoted to his wife, Anne and thankful for her loving family.He was an Elder in their local church, the Edmonton Christian Assembly and served for a time as a traveling helper for Global Missions.Lloyd was a humble man, acquainted with hardship and raised in a strong work ethic. His passion for the Lord, his insight as a teacher and his heart for the needs of others were the hallmarks of his warm and gentle ministry in both the United States and Canada.In addition to his beloved wife, Anne, of Edmonton, Alberta, he is survived by two daughters: Kristine (Bruce) Conley of Elburn, IL and Karen (William) Wooton of Bellingham, WA; two step-children, David (Carol) Kindrachuk of Vegreville, Alberta and Grace (Richard "Larry") Martell of Sherwood Park, Alberta; three grandchildren: Benjamin Conley of Elburn, IL; Sarah Conley of Seattle, WA and Daniel Wooton of Bellingham, WA; two great -grandchildren, Emma and Matthew Conley; seven step-grandchildren and ten step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen McConnaughay of Batavia, IL and Lucille (Jerome) Cornell of Elburn, IL; three brothers: Norvin McConnaughay of Bristol, IL, Stanley (Sylvia) McConnaughay of Middleburg, Florida and David (Marilyn) McConnaughay of Batavia, IL, many nieces and nephews and an international "faith family" of friends.He is preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys; one sister, Marie; one brother, Harold and three sister-in-laws, Betty, Ernie Lee and Wilma McConnaughay.His visitation will be held from 1-4pm, Sunday afternoon, June Memorials in his name may be mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.

His visitation will be held from 1-4pm, Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2005 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. His funeral service will follow at 4:30pm.

Interment will be held at 10:30am, Monday morning, June 27th at Blackberry Cemetery, Elburn.
