Julia M. Henriksonage 39 of Marseilles, IL, formerly of Dixon, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Morris Hospital, Morris, IL, after a courageous three year battle with breast cancer. Although her health had deteriorated drastically in the past few months, in her last days she was feeling better and the night before her death she felt well enough to enjoy an episode of American Idol with her mother. BORN / EARLY YEARSShe was born , March 7, 1967, in Euclid, Ohio, the daughter of Steve and Joan M. (Jacobsen) Skaper. On her fifth birthday in 1973, her family moved to Kaneville, IL where she grew up and attended Kaneland Schools. As a teenager, she began working at a Batavia nursing home. Throughout her adult life, she lived and worked in many places across the country but always enjoyed caring for people. In recent years she was employed at the Jack Mabley Center in Dixon. Julie’s life adventures took her to nearly every state in the union and many occupations, including driving huge motor homes over-the-road from Florida to Washington State!WORK AND FAMILY Her greatest joy and devotion, however, were her children. Julie was blessed with six children, Donny, Melissa, Alyssa, Brian, Jimmy and Julie. Life was a challenge for them all, but in 2003, she found her true self and turned a corner toward happiness. Tragically, the following year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and a new battle began. Throughout her life, everyone knew Julie for her straight forward feisty attitude and her hilarious (albeit sarcastic) sense of humor. It was that feisty attitude and sense of humor that helped her survive the many battles of her life. On the "flip-side" Julie’s sweet side matched her "sweet tooth" for Swedish Fish, Vanilla Tootsie Rolls and – basically any candy (except dark chocolate!). She was a good cook and made great biscuits and gravy and Italian beef that her family loved. SURVIVORS She is loved and rememberd by her six children: Don, Melissa, Alyssa, Brian and "Jimmy" Henrikson and Julianne Jacobsen of Dixon, IL;One grandson, Jordan Riley Henrikson; Her parents, Joan and Steve Skaper of Marseilles, IL;One sister, Sharon (David Smith) Norton of Elburn, IL;One brother, Steve (Sandie) Skaper of Marseilles, IL;seven nieces and nephews:Andrew and Steven Skaper of Kaneville, IL;Brandi and Billy Norton of Elburn;John, Justin and Evan Dragos of Marseilles, IL;Paternal grandmother, Maria Skaper of Hungary, Many aunts and uncles and numerous cousins in the U.S. and in Hungary.
