KATHLEEN V. (Justman) REEDAge 85 of rural Elgin, passed away peacefully at her home, late Thursday evening, February 3, 2005. Having battled through several hospital stays, she longed to return home one more time. With the help of her loving family and Provena Hospice, she arrived in her own home just hours before the Lord carried her to His. BORN: She was born May 11, 1919 in Plankinton, South Dakota the daughter of Leo Charles and Susanne Madelyn (Blazer) Justman. EARLY YEARS /EDUCATION: Kathleen grew up in the Plankinton area where she graduated from high school and shortly moved to Aurora, IL that same year. MARRIAGE : On March 29, 1941 she was united in marriage to William T. Reed in Lancaster, MO.They moved to the Wooddale / Itasca area in 1945 and made their home there until 1988 when they moved to the present family home in rural Elgin.OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY / MEMBERSHIPSThrough the years, Kathleen worked part time as a real estate salesperson and spent many years working with the Girl Scouts of America. Kathleen’s faith was an integral part of her life and she was an active and faithful member of St. Gall Church, Elburn. LIFE NOTES : A devoted wife and mother, she loved her family deeply and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a heart for hospitality and made her home a place where everyone felt loved. She was a natural "mom" to young people and especially enjoyed their company. SURVIVORS : She is survived by her husband William T. Reed of Elgin, Three daughters:Sandy Rood of Elgin,Connie Cunningham of Algonquin, IL andLisa (Carl) Schumann of Itasca, ILFour grandchildren:David (Connie) Rood of Hanover Park, ILJennifer (Roy) Salter of Elgin, ILSarah Mackenzie and William Schumann, both of Itasca, ILTwo sisters:Marguerite Reed andMarion (Mike) Barna, both of Elgin;PRECEDED : She joins now her parents, Anna and Leo Justman, her brother, Gordon Justman anddaughter, Sue Ann Reed who preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held at Conley Funeral Home, Monday February 7, 2005 from 4pm to 8pm. Rosary prayers will be held at 4:30pm with wake services at 7:30pm.Friends may call Tuesday morning, Feb. 8, 2005 at St. Gall Church one hour before mass from 9:30 to 10:30am. The funeral mass will follow at 10:30am. The Rev. Fr. Karl Ganss will officiate. MEMORIAL Memorials in her memory may be mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119. Interment will conclude at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Palatine, IL at 2pm.
