Date of Death

June 28, 2021

Keith Michael Johnson, age 37, of Batavia, IL, passed away at his home, June 28, 2021. Gone without being able to say goodbye, Keith now looks over all his family and friends from Heaven, just as he did on earth.

He was born March 31, 1984, in Geneva, IL, to Michael and Char (Faber) Johnson.

Keith grew up in Batavia and attended local schools. He graduated from Batavia High School with the class of 2003.  In high school he was known as “Kowboy Keith”, as he wore cowboy type clothes.   He always was his own person.

He spent several years working for Jewel-Osco in Batavia but loved spending much of his free time surrounded by family. Keith’s favorite pastime was assisting his grandfather, Lawrence “Tuffy” Faber in what Tuffy affectionately called “Tinkering”, or what others would describe as taking apart motors to sell the scrap metal.

Keith had a kind and tender heart, which when melded with his quiet and caring nature, put him in prime position to anonymously take care of the needs of others.  His compassionate heart was present even as a child.  While in 5th grade with the permission of his teacher, he arranged a day of celebration and care for his younger cousin Melanie, who suffered from brain tumors.  It was so special that the local newspapers ran a story about Keith and the event he arranged.

He steadfastly volunteered at Ride for Kids events every year doing whatever was asked of him, all in support of children with brain tumors.

As a member of the Geneva United Methodist Church, Keith became the chairman of the refreshment committee and was instrumental in the annual rummage sale.

He enthusiastically participated to mission trips with the ASP (Appalachia Service Project), to help repair homes.

When he wasn’t out in the community quietly doing his part, Keith loved watching old TV shows and movies: The Golden Girls, I Love Lucy and The Three Stooges were among his favorites.

He is survived by his parents Char Johnson and Michael Johnson; his sister Renee` (Adam) Agnew; numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and a family of friends.

He now joins his paternal grandparents, Ernie and Dawn Johnson, his maternal grandparents, Tuffy and Polly Faber; his maternal uncle Lennie Faber and cousin Melanie Hatch, who preceded him in death.
