NAME LaVerne A. Voigt, age 76, passed away Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at Tower Hill Care Center, South Elgin, IL. BORN He was born February 28, 1928, the son of George and Margaret (Bauman) Voigt in Wheaton, IL. CHILDHOOD Vern grew up in Wheaton and attended local schools, graduating from Wheaton High School in 1946. Following graduation, Vern began his life long career working for Illinois Bell. He climbed poles all over Wheaton and installed phone lines before moving to Western Electric who were in charge of government contracts. It was through his work for Western Electric he found himself moving from coast to coast, and even up to Alaska and the Aleutian Islands installing radar sites. MARRIED It was Christmas time in 1957 and Vern was home for the holidays where he met his future wife Mardelle Murbach at a Christmas party. Eleven months later in November 1958, they were married and soon headed back up to Alaska, as a family, to finish the work he started previously. Upon completion they headed to Elburn Il., to construct their new home, where they eventually settled. Vern and his family traveled extensively with his job and worked in many places throughout the world including England and the Faroe Islands. In the early 1970’s, Vern moved over to AT&T Long Lines and worked in Arlington Heights for a time before being transferred to Chicago where he would finish out his fifty year career in communications when he retired in 1985. Following his retirement, Vern pursued his hobbies and both he and Mardelle enjoyed traveling the world together piecing together memories that would last a lifetime. LIFE NOTES Vern was an avid hunter and fishermen, spending time every year with his friends on hunting trips while also taking the time to perfect his photography skills. MEMBERSHIPS Vern was a member of the Wheaton Rifle Club and the St. Charles Sportsman Club where he served on the board of directors and was also past president. SURVIVORS He leaves now his loving wife Mardelle, One daughter Catherine (Jeff) Mathews of Maple Park, One grandson Bill Donovan of St. Louis, MOOne granddaughter Bethany (Ryan Rachas) M. Donovan of Shabbona, IL One great-grand daughter Kyla Rachas also of Shabbona;And a family of friends PRECEDED He joins now his parents and one sister Evelyn "Toot" Tronvig.

VISITATION Friends may call from 4-7p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, with a funeral service to celebrate his life to follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Katherine Lawes, pastor of the Community Congregational Church of Elburn, officiating.

INTERMENT Burial will follow on Friday, November 5, 2004 at Chapel Hill Gardens West, 17 W. 201 Roosevelt Rd., Oakbrook Terrace, IL at 11 a.m.
