Lavina E. Christiansen, age 99, of Geneva, IL, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 28, at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva, IL.She was born April 27, 1904, in Lily Lake, IL, into a family of nine children, the daughter of Peter G. and Emma (Johnson) Johnson.She attended school in Wasco until the tenth grade when she returned home to help her mother with the rest of the children. Lavina met Walter Christiansen at a Danish picnic on the Beith farm, which she attended with a friend from St. Charles. Sometime later, they met again at the Lily Lake Town Hall; Walter asked to take her home and a courtship began.On June 27, 1931, they were united in marriage at St. Charles, IL. They bought a house and a small farm near Maple Park on Beith Rd. and there, for over forty years, Walter and Lavina shared farm life, its work and its wonders. In April of 1970, Walter passed away and Lavina continued to run the farm alone for the next four years. In 1974, she sold the farm and moved to St. Charles. At the age of ninety-four Lavina gave up her home and became a resident at Geneva Care Center, Geneva. Lavina was a caring, loving woman who was devoted to her husband and the farm life they shared together. She was an excellent cook, remembered for her Sunday dinners and fried chicken. True to her Swedish heritage, she also had mind of her own, and an independent spirit.She is survived by nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; and eight siblings: Roy, Earl, Burt, Palmer, Edith, Grace, Marie and Ila.Memorials in her name may be made to Delnor Hospital and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 3, 2004 from 1-2pm at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday.

Committal services to conclude at Gardner Cemetery, Rt. 38, Maple Park, IL.
