LESTER H. KLECKNER Sr., age 89, of St. Charles, IL, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. BORN: He was born December 22, 1920 in LaSalle, IL, the son of Harry and Edith (Edgecomb) Kleckner. EARLY YEARS:Lester grew up on Dimmick Twp. and attended local schools. MARRIAGE: Lester was united in marriage to Virginia Rose Hanson on February 6, 1944. The family moved to St. Charles in 1946 where they worked Dr. Raymond G. Scott’s farm on Rt. 31. Two years later they moved to Elburn on the Pheasant Run Farm on Hughes Rd. until 1963 when his son Lester took over all farming operations. Lester and Virginia then moved to Lily Lake where Lester continued to live following her passing in 1986. Lester was blessed with love a second time when was united in marriage to Bernice Scott on March 14, 1987 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in LaSalle, IL. They made their home in Lily Lake before moving to Carriage Oaks in St. Charles in 2004 where he continued to live following Bernice’s passing in 2008. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY:In addition to his farming Lester worked at Masonite Corporation, now International Paper, from 1960-1982 as a Supervisor of Research. MEMBERSHIPS: Lester was member of the Blackberry Masonic Lodge, #359,for over sixty years. He was also a member of the Community Congregational Church of Elburn and the Kane County Farm Bureau. LIFE NOTES: In later years he enjoyed playing cards with friends. That circle of friends grew every year and now includes a special group still living at Carriage Oaks. Lester had a generous heart and it could be plainly seen when he freely gave the fruits of his gardening labor to family and friends. His remaining years would bring many memories filled with laughter and love to all who knew him.SURVIVORS: He is survived by three children:Lester Jr. (Carol) Kleckner of Maple Park, IL, Mickey Lee of Lily Lake, IL and Dennis (Diane) Kleckner of St. Charles, ILFive grandchildren:Kent (Tracy) Kleckner and their children Derek, Cory, Kathryn, and Lauren,David (Teri) Kleckner and their daughter Elizabeth, Matthew Lee, Brian Kleckner,Renee (Shaun) Schroeder and their daughter MacKenzie;One brother Earl Kleckner of Mendota, IL and Many nieces, nephews and a family of friends. PRECEDED:He is preceded in death by his parents, his spouses, and three brothers, Kenneth, Howard, and Otto Kleckner. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. A funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2010 at Community Congregational Church of Elburn. Rev. Dr. Walter Thyng will officiate with private family interment to follow cremation. MEMORIAL In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
