NAME/ AGE Lois E. Gregory, age 89, of Yorkville, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, September 20, 2004 at Rush-Copley Hospital, Aurora. BORN Lois was born December 5, 1914 the daughter of Ulysses and Orda (Wright) Grant in Lerna, IL. CHILDHOOD She grew up in Lerna and attended local schools before her family moved to Windsor and graduated high school in 1933. Within a year of graduation, Lois was united in marriage to Paul Jones in Mattoon, IL. They began their new life together in Mattoon for a time before they followed Paul’s work during the depression as a watertower builder before settling in Warrenville, IL. In 1945, the now growing family moved to Lily Lake for five years before moving to Elburn in 1949. Lois began her 35 year career as a beautician on the corner of Rt. 47 and North St. In 1958 the family moved to the south side of Elburn where she made a shop in her home. In 1960, Paul passed away and Lois continued to work and support her family by working in her beauty shop during the day and working nights at American Can in Batavia. She married once more on January 6, 1967 to Walter B. Gregory. In 1980, Lois put down her shears and retired, moving to Sandwich, IL until Walter’s passing in 1987. Lois continued to make her home until 2002 when she moved in with her daughter Beverly and her husband Dave Siebert in Yorkville. MEMBERSHIP Lois was a member of the Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron in 1958. In early years she was a Sunday school teacher for the Lily Lake Congregational Church while in more recent years she taught bible study at the Union Congregational Church in Somonauk. Lois also volunteered hundreds of hours at the gift shop at Sandwich Hospital. LIFE NOTES Lois was a very dedicated mother and grandmother who lived her life for everyone else and always had a prayer for her family. Her faith was tried and true and was the bedrock of her life. SURVIVORS She leaves now her two daughters; Beverly Siebert of Yorkville, IL and Claudette (Rick) Liehr of Oswego, ILFive grandchildren:Paula Siebert of Aurora, IL, Terry Siebert and his daughter Krista of Bristol, IL,Trent (Dawn) Siebert and their children Jake, Kylie, and Tyler of Sugar Grove, IL, Traci Liehr and her sons Brian and Alex of Montgomery, IL and Jackie (Greg) Hunt and their children Ashley, Travis, and Bailey of Sycamore, IL;A granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Siebert of Yorkville, Il.Many nieces and nephews and a family of friends. PRECEDED She now joins her husbands Paul Jones and Walter Gregory, two sisters, one brother and one son-in-law Dave Siebert. VISITATION Friends may call at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, from 3-7p.m., Thursday, September 23, 2004 A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 7 p.m. with Rev. James T. Gottwald, pastor of the Union Congregational Church, Somonauk, officiating

Private family interment will follow Friday at Blackberry Cemtery, Elburn.
